Journalist Leila Fadel reflects upon returning from Iraq

Leila Fadel is a young, award-winning journalist who has been covering the Iraq war since June 2005. For nearly the past three years, she has been the Baghdad bureau chief for McClatchy Newspapers.

In April, she returned to work in the United States. In an video interview for McClatchy, Fadel observed her life seems detached from reality now that she is working in Washington, D.C. and that Americans may be choosing to forget about Iraq.

“I think it is strange to be in a place that doesn’t feel real to me anymore,” Fadel said. “It’s really hard actually to be in D.C., to be in a place that feels so like life is easy, everything is fine.”

“Just the idea that you can wake up in the morning and go to Starbucks, pick up your paper, read about all the horrible things happening in the world and then go to your nice, air-conditioned office and everything is over. It’s really hard and you feel a bit guilty you can have that life,” Fadel said.

A Time to Throw Down

Remember all of those vicious pricks who stormed the Miami-Dade recount office in the crucial days following the stolen 2000 election? Their goon squad intimidation tactics worked perfectly as the stunned and cowed canvassers and ballot counters were terrified into stopping the counting. The so-called Brooks Brothers riot which was organized by that good ole Texas neo-Nazi Tom DeLay was set up and carried out by a pack of angry white thuggish Republican activists, this is a standard tactic. Whenever the dirty work needs to be done there is never a shortage of knuckle-dragging goons who will eagerly carry out whatever sort of malice that they are commanded to do from their central planners. I bring this up as the news is out that now that the bought and paid for stooges of the vampire Medical Industrial Complex have been sent out to infiltrate and disrupt town hall meetings across the country with their extremist tactics. Tactics which I might add come right out of Hitler 101 and the growing ranks of violent racist freaks are nothing short of an American version of the Sturmabteilung who are more famously known as the Brownshirts.

The Beginning Of Political Violence Over Reform

The Dog is never one to encourage anger or rage in political discourse. There are a couple reasons for this. First anger while an effective short term movitator is not the kind of argument which wins elections. When you have a candidate who is angry and is not putting forth a positive vision, that candidate loses. It is true as well when we are working on policy. Too much anger in our tone allows those we are trying to influence to discount what we are saying as unserious. Can there be any doubt why the Right in the form of Boss Limbaugh and Sean Hannity are trying to hang the “angry black man” label around the president?

Jon Stewart: Obama Is A Liar

RawStory:

Reports that President Barack Obama was not born in the US have convinced Jon Stewart that he may also be lying about his age. The Comedy Central comedian chided the mainstream media Tuesday for giving President Barack Obama ‘a pass’ on his 48th birthday.

“You would think that the MSM would be coming at the White House hard and fast on this birthday scam but what do we get?” Stewart asked sarcastically. The media bought the hoax “hook, line and sinker,” he said.

“This story is more full of holes than a $30 hooker with a piercing fetish, a heroin habit, a tracheotomy and three anuses,” Stewart joked.
