Greetings and salutations!
In my last entry to the DD Writers Jam Fest series, I discussed various styles of poetry.
For more info on styles of poetry, click my previous DD Writers Jam Fest diary
But, having dispensed with formalities, I think it is time for some real inspirational brainstorming.
And, knowing the brainpower on display daily here at Docudharma, I doubt we will be disappointed.
So, I open up the floor to any and all who are inspired by the muse, for those who want to share the classics or there own verse or prose, for thse who wish to collaberate, pontificate, meditate or celebrate.
We come to celebrate the word, spoken and written.
We come to celebrate one another, and share this gift called life
We come to celebrate ourselves, and to honor what we hold dear
And we come to pay our respects, to the muses and the Gods of Bacchus and Hera, and to other Gods long forgotten.
Go below, and on to the show
You can write a poem for yourself, or seek advise from others
You can combine your work with others, or speak to no one in particular.
You can do as you wish here, I hereby forbid all rules, other than to be excellant to one another.
So, inspire one another, and be inspired. Celebrate the word, the world, the love that we share, the battle ahead, and those left behind.
May peace come to all who pass here, and may you take that peace with you when you leave and share it with others.
I open the floor to the inspired, and to inspiration itself.
And I beseech the muses to give us their blessing.
Cheers
P.S. – I have begun three different threads to kick things off. Join one or begin your own. The goal is to share, and learn and grow.
Enjoy, and peace be with you,
MoT

Grab a drink and raise your glass to Bacchus
Here is some classical for the old souls
and some jazz for the dharma bums and beatniks
and some new age triphop for those of us who want to make the old new again

this is gonna be fun!
So, here is how it works. I write two lines, and you add two lines, it doesn’t have to rhyme or fit, just let it grow and let’s see where it takes us.
I’ll go first

I wish for a world where we all live at peace
Where love and compassions, lies at the heart of all things
— Where a new world is fantasmically birthing
creating the awareness of imagining beings
We gather and gather and gather together
For the planting and harvest and the harvest moon
This muse must sleep now, rest for planting
perchance to dream of the harvest of goodness
George Washington
Thomas Jefferson
The time has come, to awaken them.
I call upon the souls of our forefathers,
To bring forth the spirit of liberty.
Awaken, awaken, awaken, awaken,
Take back the ground, that must be taken.
Awaken, awaken, awaken, awaken,
Proclaim the truth and save the nation.
Rise up from your years complacent sleep,
Break forth from your chains eternally.
I command you to rise, rise, rise, rise,
rise, rise, rise, rise.
I’m the trumpet at the ramparts,
I’m the harbinger of change.
I hold forth our Constitution,
I say we must meet it’s test.
I instigate for equal justice,
With justice for our battle cry.
I awaken revolution,
Standing on the people’s side.
Awaken,
Awaken,
Awaken,
Awaken,
George Washington
Thomas Jefferson
James Madison
John Hancock
Sam Adams
Daniel Morgan
Patrick Henry
Anthony Wayne
Awaken, awaken, awaken, awaken,
Take back the ground, that must be taken.
Awaken, awaken, awaken, awaken,
Proclaim the truth and save the nation.
Seek the rule of law no one should be excused
Constitution king, no need for lords.
Rise up from your years complacent sleep,
Break forth from your chains eternally.
I command you to
Rise, rise, rise, rise, rise, rise, rise, rise,
Rise, rise, rise, rise, rise, rise, rise, rise,
And awaken.

ON THE ROAD TO DOLORES
The gentle rain, your kiss
The comforting sun, your touch.
Everything that grows, is swollen like my eyes
Flooded with love for this land.
In the shadows created by all this new life,
I see the ancestors smiling and dancing
To the music that our hearts make.
The rooted soil, our embrace.
The endless sky, our breath.

Notes: Written on the road between Dolores Hildalgo and San Miguel De Allende, State of Guanajuanto, Mexico. Dolores is also a common girl’s name and also literally means “the pains” which some say is given to a baby who was very painful to birth or given to a child to honor the pains endured by our ancestors to bring us this far in life. Layers of meaning…that’s what make poems fun, right?
Aristotle, though wrong, is not to blame
for suggesting an endless series to be insane.
He never had the pleasure of your acquaintance
nor the metaphors of modern science.
If He had known that your every molecule
dies and is reborn in seven yearly intervals.
He’d rejoice with me as we proceeded
to imagine your body caressed and heeded.
And to notice the wondrous insufficiency
as seven years passed much to quickly.
With so many points of beauty left untouched
I’m sure he would gladly concede as much:
That an endless series can hold comfort
eternal past and future but a moment
captured when lovers gaze intently
and the universe collapses gently.
TO LOOK INTO YOUR EYES
When I look into your eyes I see eternity.
How can we count the years we have been together?
If we crushed the Earth into dust and let each particle
Be a thousand years – that would not suffice.
If we placed a particle on each mundane world
Such as ours throughout the universe, and
Crushed those worlds and all those in between,
The particles of dust would be less than the
Number of eons we have been lovers; indeed,
I see eternity in you eyes.
Between the ebb and flow of the incredible pleasures we share,
Is the presence of the eternal law.
The same law which re-unites us and makes us drunk with kisses,
Draws a veil across our past.
The millions of battles waged with demons jealous of true love,
And the oceans of tears shed over transient loves,
Only serve to remind us with every heart beat:
A love as great as this must never become self-satisfying.
Our marriage blossomed solely within our hearts, and
Not to fulfill the will of any external authority.
We have no reason to love except to express our humanity,
But with humanity comes a mission to fulfill in this world.
This love must envelope and inspire those around us
If we are to repay our debt of gratitude to the eternity of life.
This suffering world is a grand stage set for a
Renaissance of humanism – come! Let us play our part
With courage and faith! This is what I want to experience with you:
Birth, old age, sickness, and death…with the
Applause of trust and respect reverberating
In each kiss, each caress, each honoring ritual we share.
Fantastic idea, & what a great set of responding comments.
