Michibaggers: Here it Comes

The tea-baggers are coming to Brighton September 8th.  God save us all, I’m going.

Livingston County is about to be invaded by a national “tea party” group, funded by big-money corporate interests intent on attacking the programs of President Obama and Democratic leaders..

The so-called “Tea Party Express” will be at the Brighton Mill Pond Gazebo on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 3:30 p.m.

Please help us counter their negative, angry message by stopping by the Mill Pond area at 3 p.m. for our own rally in support of President Obama’s programs, especially health care. If you can’t be there right at 3 p.m., come as soon as you can.

Bring an American flag or wear an Obama pin or tee-shirt, if you have one–we still have a few available at the office. We will have some signs but more are always welcome.

We’re planning to be noisy, but rational, and not confrontational.

Please plan on joining us to show Livingston County that the real grass-roots support President Obama!

Sincerely,

Judy Daubenmier, chair

Livingston County Dems

I am trying to get the boys up to Black Lake this weekend, but my husband is hedging, worried about money and his Mom. But really, it is the only 3 day weekend left worth the 5 hour drive. (ok, Jill and I made it in less than 4, but we aren’t truck drivers, heh, where a ticket might ruin our livelihoods) She and her husband Donny went up yesterday and really want us to come.

We would be coming back on Monday, with a few hundred thousand of our closest friends that travel the two trunk lines down from Northern Michigan, adding hours of jam to our return trip. The jury is still out on that one. But my dear ones really need the North, and I feel bad I already had my fix. We hate to travel on Holiday weekends for that reason alone.

So, that Tuesday the 8th will be Jake’s first day of Middle School, and I probably have to work until almost 3. I don’t know, yesterday they cut me by 1:15, and I was out by two. I work in Brighton. (& I think he only has a half-day, leaving him waiting to tell me all about it from noonish on…)

Herein lies the QUANDRY. If I stay uptown, and GO to the thing, I may very well end up arrested. If I come home and get Jake, we both may, LOL.

I would hate to not come home until 4 or 5 on what is a really big deal day for my son, and I know if we DO travel, I will be tired, cranky, somewhat dangerously mouthy.

I am not even thrilled about Public Option, so I am quite positive the Dem’s of Livingston will distance themselves from me. I want single payer, and will be vocal about it. The wingers will hate me because you all know what I think of them. Let one of those rat bastards try & shout me down with lies. You can’t reason with the insane, so you just have to make more noise for the camera.

The mill pond is a rather small park, as municipal parks go, but Brighton is small-city sized and teeming with Republicans. And there is almost no parking, but luckily I know all the secret spots to park and walk from. It could be jammed, or be nothing.

I so want to go there, but am fairly positive I couldn’t get any of my friends to take off work, wait until I get off and come with me. So, I would be going it alone, or with my son. Wow, I know he would love it. He already yells at the TV when the neo-con nuts come on msnbc. He is tuned in. Hell, I can picture it now, “Mom pleeeeeeeeeeease can I say one “swear” at them?” Then he will cough and say, “Bullshit” under his breath. He thinks that is genius comedy. Yeah, he’ll be 11 in a couple months.

I have the feeling my darling’s reason and pragmatism will beat out over my impulsiveness and sentimentality, and we will stay home from our trip North. Either way, the logistics of Tuesday makes the whole thing much tougher no matter what, but I am certain I will go fight the baggers.

I need to make some signs.

Shall I start a preemptive bail raising drive for my Brighton Tea-bag appearance? The truth may set my fee!

::rimshot::

heh.

Black lake, we have a place right near there.  We’re on Lake Huron, north of the Ocqueoc River.   Huron Beach
