Ok… my essay tonight is????

All about the Middle East and Iran.  Yes, I’ll be all of that tonight, again.  But, I’m going to do it at Daily Kos.  Yes, I’m not happy about it, but, I think it is time to toss some sanity into progressives yelling “bomb bomb”.

So… give me time to write it up… and… I’ll post the link shortly.

    my head hurts.

    This from someone who didn’t even want the US to invade Afghanistan after 9/11, let alone any of the rest of it.

    I still remember my first, gut response when my then roommate called me over to his TV that morning, to watch the planes hit the towers.

    I thought; “They’re going to use this as an excuse to do something horrible. They just got the green light.”

    And I meant my government.

    I then moved on to dealing with virtually everyone around me being all gung-ho for going to war. I looked on in horror, while they told me I was just naive, and that sometimes war is necessary.

    Then I watched the newspapers, and found a few people – women, especially, brave women – coming out and saying in print, in public; “We are not for this. People’s children are going to die in this.”

    Then I wrote a letter to the Albuquerque Journal (which they printed) about feeling like an enemy alien in the town in which I live (Carlsbad, NM), just because I was not in favor of the USA going to war.

    And then I watched, while gradually all these people who looked at my silly pacifist views with so much condescension, gradually came around to realizing what a horrible mistake all this was.

    And then, forget they ever thought otherwise, or at least fail to admit it.
