War is Peace

The Nobel committee has done the Orwellian Swing by awarding the world’s chief war monger the Nobel Peace Prize. While perhaps there were reasons for the Prize connected with hope – there is a hope for peace with Obama, the facts on the ground suggest the Norwegians have not been paying attention.

Because, where is the peace? The strategy of the West, of which Obama is the chief spokesperson, is to make a desolation and call it peace. Afghanistan is a living hell – which even Code Pink has been fooled by (there is no difference between the Taliban policy toward women and the War Lords of the Northern Alliance – formerly known as the Mujahedeen). Iraq is desolation. We have invaded Pakistan with drone assassins; making new enemies daily through all the ‘collateral damage’. The I/P situation might have gotten a little better if Obama didn’t play so much kiss-face with the creepy war criminal Netanyahu and thwart the United Nations ala the Goldstone Report. We have hot wars in Africa we don’t want to talk about. The Philippines is heating up. The cops in America are all being militarized and police brutality stories appear every day in the news.

Where is the peace? What is the justification for this award as Obama doubles-down in the already lost war in Afghanistan? Where is the pace as he plays Israel’s game in the Middle East? Where is the peace as Obama fights to the death, ours, to track down and murder innocent people of the al Qaeda ghost army? He says we don’t torture, but that’s what Bush said. We still have secret prisons. We still rendition. We still have Guantanamo. And Bagram.

How can the leader of the World’s largest ‘war economy’ receive the Nobel Peace Prize? A travesty. A travesty I tell you. Cindy Sheehan; she deserves the prize. Kucinich and Paul, sure. But Obama? It’s a joke.

The world has become a joke. If Obama continues the same policies as his predecessor and does nothing to reverse them, then he too is a war criminal.

Politicians around the world lie with impunity. They talk out of both sides of their mouths. They talk about ‘the people’, making things better for the people, but their allegiance is to the corporate money power which runs the world. Obama is no different than any of them. He promised change and and practices accommodation with America’s enemies – Republicans, Blue Dogs, the money power and war crime ridden foreign governments who are enemies of the interests of the American People.

I’ve already given up on the two-party system, after the Last American Hope turned out to be just another rank politician. Now I have to give up on the world.

The Nobel Committee, with this award to another in a long line of American War Criminal Presidents, has proven the Orwellian maxim true:

War is Peace.
