WH throws everyone under bus?

(10 am. – promoted by ek hornbeck)

Just finished my blog reading and found this over at AMERICAblog News:

NBC just did a piece about today’s gay rights march in Washington. For the political context of the gay community’s ire, NBC went to Chief Washington Correspondent John Harwood. Harwood was asked if the White House was worried about “the left as a whole,” and concerns they have that the White House isn’t doing things that “the left” expected them to do. Harwood said the following:

Barack Obama is doing well with 90% or more of Democrats so the White House views this opposition as really part of the Internet left fringe.

Harwood then went on to say:

For a sign of how seriously the White House does or doesn’t take this opposition, one adviser told me those bloggers need to take off the pajamas, get dressed, and realize that governing a closely divided country is complicated and difficult.

So the gay community, and its concerns about President Obama’s inaction, and backtracking, on DADT and DOMA, are now, according to President Obama’s White House, part of a larger “fringe” that acts like small children who play in their pajamas and need to grow up. (And a note to our readers: The White House just included all of you in that loony “left fringe.“)

Now, I’m not one to cry wolf.  The actual quote came from NBC’s Chief White House Correspondent, John Harwood.  However, note that Harwood cites that he spoke with a WH advisor who slammed us “internet people”.

So, let’s start there…

Harwood then went on to say:

Right.  Cuz Guvnerning iz hard wurk.  Remember how many times we heard that from George Bush.  But, look at the rest of it, a “closely divided country”?  On what exactly????

60-70% of the nation (depending on poll) supports a public option being included in the health care reform bill.  That is trying to govern a closely divided country?

54% of the nation want our troops pulled out of Afghanistan while only 41% support the war according to an August CNN poll.  That is trying to govern a closely divided country?

When Obama took office in January, 81% of the country were in favor of repealing DADT according to CNN.  That is HARDLY a closely divided country!

In fact, the ONLY thing that seems to be “hard” for President Obama is doing what the public WANTS!  THAT seems to be too hard for him.

And, let’s see who the White House tossed under this bus; the “internet” fringe.

You know, that 13 million-strong grassroots network that he built up and used to get elected in an electoral landslide.

You know, that network that raised $55 million dollars for the Obama campaign that helped him get elected in an electoral landslide.

Well, this is who PRESIDENT Obama’s White House just threw under the bus.

Daily Kos?  Markos? — under the bus.

America Blog?  John Aravosis? — under the bus.

Crook’s and Liar’s?  John Amato?  — under the bus.

Firedoglake?  Jane Hamsher? — under the bus.

I could list all of the blogs, all of the people who own them, run them, or blog on them, but why?  If you are on the internet, you were simply tossed under the bus by the Obama White House.

  1. once again whining to the MSM about bloggers.

But be of good cheer Michael.  Rahm wouldn’t be squealing this loud and often if we weren’t having a real affect on his corporatist agenda.

  2. …to keep up with all their shape shifting maneuvers and how they aren’t doing what they say they are doing,  or aren’t doing what they said they would do, and all the shifts and changes and whirling dervishes of slights of hands and feet that there just isn’t time to get out of the pajamas.  It’s almost impossible to keep up.

That’s why my alternate screen name is “barefoot blogger”.  I don’t have time to put shoes on.  Besides, I like being barefoot.  And I take my clue from the real Nobel Peace Prizer, HH the Dalai Lama, who went to visit W Bush in the WH wearing flip flops.

Thanks for this all too telling post!

  3. if when an anonymous White House source makes a statement to the press in the form of a profanity-laced tirade, the reporter would mention that the statement was made in the form of a profanity-laced tirade.

  4. when this was brought up – they said it meant all other blogs beside GOS. Because GOS was moderate while the left has those other blogs. Then said it had nothing to do with the Gay Rights agenda which it was specifically about – or in reference to. I love scapegoating and throwing under people the bus so much!

Fuck the left is supposed to uphold solidarity.

Since they stole our jobs, money, and are foreclosing on our homes, I thought under the bus was our new FEMA trailer.

We really need an option to Republicans and these so called Democrats.   I can’t tell you how happy I am that not a dime of that 55 million came from me.

  5. opposition that brings ya!  But including Markos in this seems a bit off because they’re referring to the 10% leftist fringe, and that isn’t Markos or DK.

  6. Yes let us yank out another phenominally stupid topic to foist upon the sheeple of the empire.

Longer school days when we can’t pay for the days we have now.

Gay stuff “in the news” but zero coverage of G20, Hardin Montana,Oak Knoll California and several other martial law drills nationwide.

Yes we can?  Thank You Satan!

I imagine they plan on replacing the votes with right wing bipartisan support, since they are making such strong inroads into that market.

    Heh.

  7. …. could somebody pass me the Grey Poupon for my government dairy subsidized cheese, it’s over there in the cooler under the back axle.

  8. I just got back from a fight on Dkos I’m still reeling from. You know, the one where I had to defend Jane Hamsher because someone called her a “McCarthyite”.

Buhdy was called a racist the other day. So was Michael Moore.

    Wtf is going on?!
