Pall Corp. to pay $2M to clean Glen Cove waste site
One of Long Island’s largest companies has agreed to pay New York $2 million to clean up hazardous waste at a state Superfund site in Glen Cove where the firm once manufactured high-tech filters.
The settlement with Pall Corp. of Port Washington will cover most of the state’s estimated $2.4 million cost to address pollution at the 5-acre site, according to state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s office, which announced the deal Monday.
It covers contaminated soil and groundwater down to 60 feet below the surface at 30 and 36 Sea Cliff Ave. The state Department of Environmental Conservation is still investigating deep groundwater contamination there and could pursue further legal action, Cuomo’s office said.
Take care of the land, and the land WILL take care of you.
Have I made myself clear, Mssrs. Suozzi? ;-7
Because not all of those chickens have quite come home to roost yet… get my drift?
This is an excellent development. A badly needed first step toward cleaning up this area, and an excellent showing by the State of New York toward holding pseudo-citizen corporations, ESPECIALLY DOD contractors, responsible for their actions.
I think Mr. Ralph Suozzi already thinks so, and let’s just say that this little Yankees Valkyrie has a feeling that Mr. Tom Suozzi will agree by week’s end. It is likely that Tom is having some little bitty nervous-making issues right now because perhaps he should have acted on this sooner, but who knows. He may get another chance to do the job right if he takes notes on the way that his brother LISTENS to ALL of his constituency.
Absolute super props and heartfelt thanks are due to the NYS DEC and NY State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo. That guy seriously kicks bazoo.

AG in Cuomo. Good news to hear of this. I live in Portland OR and the Willamette is a super fund it’s so filthy. Why aren’t the corporations who cause this liable for the clean up?
