One of Us

( – promoted by buhdydharma )

I’ve always liked this song.

If God had a name what would it be?

And would you call it to his face?

If you were faced with Him in all His glory

What would you ask if you had just one question?

And yeah, yeah, God is great

Yeah, yeah, God is good

yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah

What if God was one of us?

Just a slob like one of us

Just a stranger on the bus

Tryin’ to make his way home?

I feel love and solidarity with a woman who writes about her aging dog with love and about barbie dolls. I feel love and solidarity with a man who blogs from across borders. I feel love and solidarity with another man who writes through physical pain and he writes anyway. And more and more.

By what right do I stand in solidarity with all the oppressed and underprivileged humans of this world who struggle and fight to overcome the tyranny?

None. No right whatsoever. Who am I…?

And yeah, yeah, God is great

Yeah, yeah, God is good

yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah

    Love you too, my friend.

Funny, before i read this, I thought, hmmm, she hasn’t been over in a while.. but I was glad to read your comment this morning on Teton’s thread.

Great song choices, some of my all time favs, too.

I’m kind of hopeful for the new year too, it seems some bridges are being rebuilt in my life where I had lost hope. 🙂

I’m crossing my fingers and praying for that one. Yeah. I still pray. Heh. We may all be blundering toward Godhood, but there are times you have to talk to the one/(s) who’s already there.

I’m glad you’re one of us!

I never knew who did it, though I’ve heard it at times, back when I listened to regular radio.

    Thanks so much!

  3. God is a verb not a noun.

God is a “state of being” not “a being”.

    God is love.

  4. I knew this guy in college who knew someone who knew Saloth Sar, before he changed his name to Pol Pot and engineered the Cambodian genocide.  My friend said that Saloth Sar was pretty much a factory worker who went to college part time, that he was playing the part of average Joe and prole all the way through.

  5. Merry Christmas Everyone

  6. she kept saying sing the God song. You sing the God song well. Who are you? Why you are the face on the bus, a seeker at the gates, a writer with a grounded yet emotional view, an open loving spirited woman who stands in solidarity and love with all of us other slobs. Your also fun, you bring me songs and Johnny Depp news, which always lightens the way.   Whoever you are, your helping us to make our way home. I’m glad you are sharing your journey with us.
