transcript

Severn Suzuki representing ECO, the Environmental Children’s Organization

addresses the UN regard the environmental issues of great concern, to her generation.

The people who will inherit the global decisions made at Copenhagen, this week …

IF ONLY, we all had, such Courage of our Convictions,

and the wherewithal to the find the time and place

to state them.

Indeed,

WHAT kind of the World, ARE We leaving,

to Future Generations?

An Excellent Question,

that far too few,

Politicians know how to ask.

IF ONLY, our Elected Leaders, had this same,

Courage of their Convictions —

this same determination of spirit,

that this representative, of those Future Generations,

has.

Imagine then, the kind of world we’d already be building …

Perhaps the UN Leaders, did indeed hear what Severn was saying?

The latest draft of the forthcoming global climate agreement coming from the UN includes the 350 target!  In fact, it includes 350 six times–we counted.

But, Will that draft become Treaty?

Will the Representatives of the USA coalition,

hear now the urgent pleas, of those Future Generations,

who will inherit the whirlwind, of their current Decisions?

Or will they bargain away, their birthright, like so many promissory notes?

Anything less than 350, is an abandoning of our clear responsibility.

The time to Act is Now.

And Great Leaders, are called to even greater Acts.

selfless acts.

future-looking acts.

world-saving acts.

    we lived in a world,

    that listens

    that thinks

    that plans ahead.

  1. If only this young woman’s amazing speech HAD silenced the world for 5 minutes.  The frightening thing is that more people don’t know about this, aren’t moved by it, don’t seek it.  I am going to share this as much as I am able…but we need to make a much bigger impact to get this message across.  How?  I am searching for that answer as are your other readers here….thanks so much for posting this.
