Here we go.
All together now…
H. R. 3699
To prohibit any increase in the number of members of the United States Armed Forces serving in Afghanistan.
IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
October 1, 2009
Ms. Lee of California (for herself, Ms. Woolsey, Mr. McGovern, Ms. Waters, Mr. Conyers, Mr. Ellison, Mr. Lewis of Georgia, Ms. Watson, Mr. Towns, Mr. Cleaver, Ms. Jackson-Lee of Texas, Mr. Cohen, Mr. Honda, Mr. Grijalva, Mr. McDermott, Mr. Stark, Mr. Hinchey, Mr. Kucinich, Ms. Edwards of Maryland, Ms. Clarke, Mr. Filner, and Mr. Grayson) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Armed Services
A BILL
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. Prohibition on increase in number of members of the United States Armed Forces serving in Afghanistan.
No funds appropriated or otherwise made available under any provision of law may be obligated or expended to increase the number of members of the United States Armed Forces serving in Afghanistan so that the number of members serving in Afghanistan exceeds the number so serving on the date of the enactment of this Act.
A Nov 25 2009 blogpost I found about that:
Rep. Lee told the cheering crowd, “We all know there is no military solution to the war in Afghanistan.” She said her legislation sends a “clear and unequivocal” message and urged us to help build support for the bill. She asked the crowd to “make some noise” and be “the wind beneath our wings” and help push Congress to speak out for a new approach in Afghanistan. You can listen to Rep. Lee’s speech here:
This is absolutely a critical time to “make some noise.” Reports today indicate that President Obama is going to announce a plan on Tuesday that will include sending around 30,000 additional troops to Afghanistan. Join thousands of others around the country as part of our campaign to flood the White House with calls. Call 1-202-456-1111 to tell President Obama to support an alternative plan that doesn’t include an increase in troops. Click here to urge your representative to cosponsor Rep. Lee’s bill to prohibit funding for sending additional troops to Afghanistan.
To Do This Week, note to self:
Go unregister as Democrat and re-sign up as Independent;
Join Society of Friends (Quakers) officially;
maybe do a little shopping…

I haven’t posted in so long, I have forgotten how to imbed videos. Hopefully works this time.
I’m serious.
but how many of the Rep’s then turn around and vote for more war funding?
I know Kucinich didn’t but he is alone much of the time. I wouldn’t expect Grayson to either, can’t speak for the rest.
Change? Where?

…and too disconsolate to say or write anything for about 3 to 4 weeks now, since it became evident where the health care debacle was going, and evident that the Military-Industrial-Intelligence-Congressional-Presidential-Corporate-Cahoots-Complex would do and be the same.
This is the end of our country. This experiment in democracy has failed.
I’m going to take 2 hempanol and pray to feel better in the morning.
