  1. There is VERY little talk in the US media about this kind of stuff – the geopolitical maneuvering going on, especially between the US, China and Russia, with India on the sidelines waiting to see what happens.  Afghanistan and Pakistan are only pawns in this game now.

    Pakistan, especially, is key right now.  Long a US client state, it’s been cut loose by events forced by 9/11. Now the US is in Pakistan and China is vying for influence.  Pakistan and China have had under the radar ties for a LONG time – the Chinese helped Pak get nukes, with tacit US approval.  Now China would love to have a stronger alliance with Pak, if only to contain India. The US is trying to arm India as a buffer against China, including the nuclear fuel deal.  And India is heavily invested in Afghanistan, trying to smother Pakistan.

    Another Great Game is going on and the American public couldn’t care less…
