and i will empty your mind.

Drink me. Yes, you can.

Drink me, damn it.

It’s a bitter swill. But at least it’s not that little purple pill…

I mean, I have to wonder: where is the learning curve?. Or am I misreading something?

But what is that idiot Chuck Schumer doing on the rec-list at dKos today, for christ sakes, talking about forcing corporate accountability. FUCKING REALLY? Does anybody think this guy, a champion of wall street is really and fucking truly serious about accountability for corporations? Echt waar?

And in the grand gesture category, we have the Free Speech for People amendment introduced by Reps. Edwards and Conyers. We’re not really gonna fall for that one, are we? Does Conyers think the First Amendment is a secret? Maybe he and Ms. Edwards think we can’t read. Well, after the assault on public education in the last 30 or so years, maybe we can’t.

But good god, SCOTUS has become a corporate tool. So no surprise in its ruling. But this… this proposed amendment sounds eerily like the wingnuts marriage is for People (straight) people.

Ha. Free speech is only for PEOPLE people. Gha. Then I have to wonder: do they do it on purpose? Do the Dems actually do dumb on purpose? Do they engineer shit so the hapless Republicans have no choice but to find the weak spots? And then the Dems have cover to back down. It’s a pattern, no?

What Conyers could do, what all Democrats should do, is push the delete button and wipe out FISA and the Military Commissions Act. They could enforce the laws already on the books and throw the corporate criminals and the political criminals in jail. Hey, Mr. Conyers, where is that herculean effort to get your fucking subpoenas enforced? Oh, maybe issuing more big bad subpoenas will exert that Congressional muscle:

After two years of stonewalling, it’s time for him to talk…

I have said many times that I will carry this investigation forward to its conclusion, whether in Congress or in court, and today’s action is an important step along the way,” said Rep. Conyers. Noting that the change in administration may impact the legal arguments available to Mr. Rove in this long-running dispute, Mr. Conyers added, “Change has come to Washington, and I hope Karl Rove is ready for it. After two years of stonewalling, it’s time for him to talk.

I could vomit. Really. I am sick of the talk. I am sick of slogans. Of bullshit. I am sick of politicians acting like they’ve finally caught up with reality… cause it’s a day late and trillions of dollars short.

What I’m most annoyed at? Us. Yeah. Hate me. Flame this diary out of existence. BUT I’m overdone between those touting every morsel from Obama as some kind of progress to those touting every thing Sarah Palin does as something fucking evil and important. Stop the left reactionary movement.

There is work to be done. Yelling at Blue Dogs and sending e-mails to Congress apparently doesn’t work.

I’d be willing to bet there are things, real things that would work. A net roots movement. Ousting Nancy Pelosi out of her seat and filling it with a NetRoots person. IMO, we should have worked to get Cindy Sheehan in. She is a real person. A real citizen. Not a corporate tool.

As I’ve written about for a few years now: We need to put money in local elections and get real citizens elected to town councils and help sane people, who believe in secular public schools, regain school board seats. Sane people who believe in stable economies, not ever-expanding consumer economics, to sit on zoning boards. We need people on county boards and in state legislatures that aren’t interested in power but in good gov’t and good citizenship.

We need the most of us. In this country. And our neighbors around the globe. It’s time to exert the ideas of a common good but without it being administered by some kind of world order. Dangerous, no matter which side operates it.

But hell… Democrats are only a brand, afterall. That’s it. They do not represent citizens or carry our concerns about the planet, the polar bear, or the future. Really.

We don’t need change, brothers and sisters. What we need is some fucking restoration. We don’t need to win more elections. We need to earn elections, votes, trust. Reinstating the rule of law is priority one. Positioning ourselves locally and regionally is next. The rest will follow.

and that’s a 30.

ijust love the way you look at things… the way you write.

you connect things in such a unique way.

    you make me think…. further.

& yes. i agree. with everything you’ve said.

  1. And, yes, I love how you hold back NOT! 😉

Returning to the rule of law has been for so long now my major PUSH.  I cannot foresee any REAL “progressive” change without it!

Rove and Miers did finally appear, as it were, but it was “private” — an agreement between Conyers and Rove’s attorney made an agreement.  But damned, if I know what took place and what was said — there doesn’t appear to be much info. on it. (snark)

I’m as outraged as you, have been for years now — same as you and so many of us!

Tell you one thing, though, if this Supreme Court decision is not overturned or majorly amended, I think you may as well forget it — meaning we, THE PEOPLE, are royally f..ked!  Already, a corporation, Murray Hill, Inc., is going to run for the Senate.  (See here!)

On another issue, EJ needs to get to work, too! Yep, look at this:  Oy, take a look at this!

  2. front pager status at the maelstrom itself!  He’ll need a pseudonym.

We must focus on face-to-face and local politics. And start with people who are neither insane, on the take, or just sour. We can’t act nationally. That is finished and gamed so completely that nothing can be done. The best we can hope for is that something is left over from the money they are stealing from us. I don’t even see a glimmer of hope for the federal gov’t — if anybody does please tell me.

  3. wet paint says, “touch me.”

A theory of motivation in a nutshell.  Collect your certificates.

  4. Then greater numbers of people will look for something different, an answer for deep down inside they know the earth is not flat.

There is a conciousness raising event and it’s happening globally.  Breaking through to even mainstream media are menttions of “The Illuminati”, Bilderberg, CFR, the stuff of higher veils.  The old ways have to die and that should not mean taking out large numbers of people as mandated by those at the top of the food chain.

Don’t say the power that be, say the powers that were.

    and man, it hooked me.

But Conyers is pissing against a hurricane of same. They won’t let him do Jack shit.

is large and in charge, and right now probably the single biggest impediment to actual change that we have.
