Before the McCain/Palin ticket co-oopted the word and bastardized it into meaning “we follow the herd mentality of the Bushites and so should you,” the word rogue already had a bum rap.
Even in the dictionary, I had to go to definition 11 before I got to the definition that, to me is the very basis of the word; from which all other derogatory definitions fall:
no longer obedient, belonging, or accepted and hence not controllable or answerable; deviating, renegade
Why is this the basis of insult? Why is this a bad thing? I love this definition.
Lets face it, I am a total sucker for nonconformists. Real nonconformists, not ones who take the guise of another pack mentality to appear nonconformists. I have always admired those who really think outside the box. The ones they call loners, crazies, misfits.
Therein lies the true genesis of genius.
Maybe its just me, or the fact as an equestrian, I always admired the ones who would not be broken and would break away from the herd to remain free.
Who wants to see this:
Become this:
Apparently the United States does.
The very idea of Rogue States lies in our definition. We expect, nay demand that the World conform to our standard, still stuck in the exceptionalist Manifest Destiny mentality that takes as given OUR way is the BEST way.
That thinking is not only insulting at its very core, it negates the ability of People to SELF-DETERMINE.
Obama started in the right direction, allowing for negotiations with anyone without precondition, but still negotiated in the twisted faith that they should be doing our will, conforming to our ways, and should be grateful for a chance to become our client state. Its no longer working. It should never work. We need to grow up and realize that we could learn from other cultures, and accept them as our equals, not out lessers.
You see, to the perpetuation of the Ruling Elites, it is necessary to quell dissent and keep herd mentality, among Nations and among its own People. They marginalize, denigrate and call those of us who leave the herd dangerous.
There are no Rogue States, there are only independent self-interested Peoples.
Self-determining Peoples.
There are no tin-foil hat, nut job, Rogue Citizens in these United States, there are only Free Thinkers who would rather fight than be lassoed into losing their freedom.
Self-interested People.
Well, maybe that is Rogue.
But I will never say it like its a bad thing.

just wtf gives us the right to dictate how anyone else lives/governs? we could learn sooooooo much from other countries if we could just get over this “i’m better than you” attitude.
& besides. shouldn’t we fix what’s wrong in our own
housecountry first?……Yummm

Don’t Fence Me In
Wildcat Kelly, lookin’ mighty pale,
Was standing by the sheriff’s side;
And when that sheriff said
“I’m sending you to jail,”
Wildcat raised his head and cried:
Oh, give me land, lots of land
Under starry skies above,
Don’t fence me in.
Let me ride through the wild open
Country that I love,
Don’t fence me in.
Let me be by myself in the evening breeze-
Listen to the murmer of the cottonwood trees,
Send me off forever, but I ask you please,
Don’t fence me in.
Just turn me loose,
Let me straddle my old saddle
Underneath the western sky.
On my cayuse,
Let me wander over yonder
Till I see the mountains rise.
I want to ride to the ridge
Where the west commences,
Gaze at the moon till I lose my senses,
Can’t look at hobbles and I can’t stand fences,
Don’t fence me in.
Wildcat Kelly, back again in town,
Was sitting by his sweetheart’s side,
And when his sweetheart said:
“Come on, let’s settle down,”
Wildcat raised his head and cried:
Oh, give me land, lots of land
Under starry skies above,
Don’t fence me in.
Let me ride through the wild open
Country that I love,
Don’t fence me in.
