Max Power for Earth Hour

Don’t forget earth hour tonight.

When turning on stuff don’t forget the big watt sucking items like the microwave oven, blow dryers, electric stoves and clothes dryers.

Think of it like voting, voting against being lied to, voting against a permanent underclass, voting against giving sociopathic Bernie Madoff parasites money to masterbate with.  On a global basis no less.  Voting against eugenics.

14 States suing over Obamacare, watch for zero MSM coverage of that event.

Can the IRS recruit 16,500 shotgun toting thugs?

In this Pavlovian dog/Stanford Prison Experiment society?

You Betcha!

Lesser of Two Evils: No Longer Applicable

I’ve been saying this so much for so long, I decided to just create a picture this time. There is not lesser of two evils. It’s all a carefully orchestrated charade. Or, as depicted, a puppet show.

There will be no electoral solution. There is no “better Democrat” strategy. There will be no revolution, televised or not. The game is rigged. Checkmate.

The only way to win is to play a different game.

Here’s a clue though: almost all leftwing societies, socialists or whatever you want to call them, did not arise from building over time a strong leftwing political party. In every case they arose as a reaction to rightwing governments.

Where leftist organization plays in is being ready to seize the moment when rightwing policies bring disaster upon the people. But as we have seen with the election of Obama, they may have got us beat in that regard too. But most likely, it’s just because the disaster wasn’t disastrous enough this time.

But by far, the biggest aid to a return to “progressivism” or “social democracy”, or whatever you want to call it, was the disastrousness of George W. Bush’s presidency. And the biggest impediment is fake lefties like the Democrats. That’s the little song and dance they do. All that useful anger from the Bush years was dissipated with the “change” to Barack Obama. But the change was an illusion. This is how the puppet show works.

So you want to move the whole country left in a big way sooner? Elect Sarah Palin. Or stick with the Democrats. The puppet show won’t work forever. It’s already failing in Europe as socialists sweep elections and the people call for neoliberal heads.

In sum, the real fight is here. Not the government. Prepare the people so when the crash comes, they won’t choose a militant fascist instead of a peaceful socialist.

YOU MUST BE HIGH

A research group led by a professor of neurophysiology at the University of Tokyo claims to have identified a chemical in the brain that “creates effects similar to those of marijuana.” The scientists say their findings could eventually help people lose weight, which makes us wonder what they’ve been smoking.

A new book called The Great Tokyo Air Raid: Records of Korean Victims, Part III is being described as the “first comprehensive study of the damage done to Korean residents in wartime Tokyo.” We suppose parts I and II were about the fun that the Koreans had during the war.

The newly established Consumer Affairs Agency is mulling whether to cancel an information hotline that was intended to combat a rise in food mislabeling scandals. The agency said that most of the calls “were general consultations or complaints, such as being tricked into buying an expensive item.”

It was revealed that the National Research Institute for Cultural Properties allowed a museum in Niigata to display 14 Buddhist statues designated as national treasures even though an earlier exhibit was riddled with “spiders and other bugs.”

The state of the Supreme Court

Glenn Greenwald has a great article up about the next opening on the Supreme Court.  With the next Presidential election two years away, it is likely that President Obama will be able to pick a second Supreme Court Justice, and, Greenwald opines on this NYT article.

If Justice Stevens retires, Democrats close to the White House said, the leading contenders will be three runners-up from last year: Elena Kagan, the solicitor general; Diane P. Wood, an appeals court judge in Chicago; and Merrick B. Garland, an appeals court judge in Washington.

If you think that President Obama will nominate a person with “liberal” leanings, you are sadly mistaken.

Yesterday’s Memorial for the Triangle Factory Fire Victims

Cross-posted at DailyKos.

At 11:30 yesterday morning on the corner of Greene St. and Washington Pl. I met Firefighter James M. Sorokac for the first time. I’d never met him before but being the keeper of “The Last Alarm” and a member of the of the FDNY ceremonial unit, his face was far too familiar to me.

In the shadow of the Asch Building he explained that the bell that is rang for the fallen dates back to a time when there was one bell at every NYC fire house. He told me the story of the four fives. When firehouses would communicate to each other across the city by ringing five times in a series of four the message that “a brother has fallen in the line of duty.”

Today that bell is rang once by a white gloved firefighter at funerals and memorial services.

Yesterday Firefighter James M. Sorokac rang that bell 146 times.

FRIDAY NIGHT DISTRACTIONS

Well where to begin!

Last night I tried to open up a 500 gig hard drive that I`d set aside last year, since I couldn`t get it to load.

Holy Moly, the thing popped right up on the desktop, with the other five, as if it was there all the time.

I decided to copy it onto a Terrabyte drive on which I had space for.

So I now have archives I thought were lost.

I started going through the files, starting from the first one & proceeding to the second one.

These are shots from those files.

Now since these images are supposed to be distracting, I`ll peek into a political window for just a second.

I try to never inject politics into my posts, but tonight, I want you to think of the children.

Bear with me.

With the rude & dangerous threats against reasonable people since healthcare passed, I keep seeing the comparison to how childish those acts are.

Those are not childish acts.

I`ll open these distractions with some of my little friends.

This is what childish looks like.

The amazing purity of childhood innocence.

‘Cap and Dividend’ turns Carbon Caps into a Profit-Sharing Gig

Did you know that ‘Cap and Trade’ is an Old School Solution?

There’s a new Carbon Solution in play, that is CLEARLY a contender …

Cap and Dividend:

The CLEAR Climate Solution

The cap-and-dividend CLEAR Act, introduced by Senators Maria Cantwell and Susan Collins, is simple, fair and built to last. Simple: a 100% auction of permits to pollute, a return of most of the money raised directly to the people, with the remainder used for clean energy investments. Fair: each American gets an equal monthly refund from auction proceeds so that those who use less energy will do better than those using more.
