The Monster That is Now Called Law Enforcement

The Jacksonville, Florida, Sheriff’s Department is now having to answer why five officers fired 42 rounds into a vehicle that had been carjacked. In the car when police fired at it was a 2 year-old toddler, a 7 year-old, and their mother. The toddler was hit twice, once in the arm and once in the upper torso, and, remains in critical condition.

“We had a very volatile situation,” Sheriff John Rutherford told the Florida Times Union. “I just don’t want to try to speculate on why they felt the need to shoot at the suspect while he was in the vehicle.”

I wouldn’t want to try and speculate, either, since there was NO REASON that an officer would think to fire at a vehicle that still held three innocent people.

What isn’t speculation is that law enforcement officers have turned into monsters, and, that this is the result of too many officers committing too many offenses without punishment.

No War Ever Ends

They call it missing in action, but those soldiers are missing at home, too, at every wedding and every graduation and every holiday.

Sometimes you meet an old man who has children and grandchildren now, and he never had a father. You meet amputees who had twenty good years ahead of them, playing softball or throwing a football around on Thanksgiving or pushing a stroller and lifting a baby ever so carefully out of it…

No war ever ends.

I remember Mr. Bush in the Press Club video, looking under a table for WMDs and all the elite reporters laughing, Karl Rove and Rumsfeld laughing and all the elite reporters laughing with them. Remember them!

There’s always broken souls and crazy men raging in bare rooms, and women who wake up screaming, and children alone in the dark, listening.

Names and dates of birth on tombstones and monuments, and a mother who remembers every birthday, soldiers buried in consecrated ground and others unburied in jungles and wastelands. This was the father who would have given the bride away. This was the brother who would have been the best man.

No war ever ends.

Tea and Tribulation: A Requiem for the Tea Party

“Ignorance breeds monsters to fill up the vacancies of the soul that are unoccupied by the verities of knowledge”

-Horace Mann

So this is it for the Tea Party, it is a spent force and will soon (although not soon enough) pass into our national history. It will go kicking and screaming epithets as yet another of those horrific, herpetic blights that always seem to plague many of those who should know better and the rest of the perpetually angry, broke-dick, knuckle-dragging fuckups who quite simply don’t give a rat’s ass. I predict that within the next year it will no longer exist, not because the passage of the tepid jar of vomit health ‘reform’ bill that was Christmas Day for the insurance parasites that shook the fascist Republicans to their roots and according to none other than Mr. Axis of Evil himself, David Frum was the party’s Waterloo. The career lickspittle Frum’s denunciation of the embarassment brought upon the Republican house of shame from throwing in with the likes of the Beckers, Dittoheads and Palinazis earned him scorn and the loss of his nice gig over at that roiling spring of neocon fascist filth The American Enterprise Institute.

LMAO! RNC Steele: Hardlookin’, Hook, Line, and Sinkin’

Just what we needed to brighten things up on an otherwise drab Monday !

Yo, Republican Party –  doesn’t calling it“frivolous luxuries which are out of reach of the vast majority of the American People”  imply that given the cash, we would all be going to dinners at the local bondage themed nightclub featuring live bedroom antics ?

Some of us, you know, the old married farts, regular working people,  and the ones not on Ted Haggard’s Cash for Public Blessings speed dial, just want to eat a steak and a salad and maybe some ice cream if it’s a Saturday, and then fall into bed at home, and go to sleep afterwards.  No ropes required.

HuffPo says the kink, er, link webpage is down right now.  Oh, dayam.

This is where the Chairman of the Republican National Committee likes to Party, oh, wait, he’s denying it, it was somebody else at the RNC, at Voyeur West Hollywood. Who Knew that lavish nightspot drinking, “highbrow elegance, and a bit of S&M are not mutually exclusive” ?

Dear RNC, “Tone Deafness” is not quite the right phrasing, either. On behalf of the truly pitch impaired singing public, try “Please accept that kinkyness is a GOP Party requirement” and see how it goes with your Family Values appeal.

“The appearance is bad, I’ll give you that,” said Larry Farnsworth, a Republican strategist and former press secretary to House Speaker Dennis Hastert, “But… it’s tough raising money and I don’t think donors want to meet for free waffles and coffee at the Holiday Inn Express. These guys want to be wined and dined, it’s the dirty part of politics.”

1 Suu Kyi’s party to boycott Myanmar vote

YANGON (AFP) – Myanmar’s opposition party led by Aung San Suu Kyi said Monday it would boycott polls expected later this year, after the country’s military rulers introduced a controversial new election law.

The National League For Democracy (NLD) decided at a meeting to refuse to register for the first polls to be held in two decades, a move that would have forced it to oust its detained leader and recognise the junta’s constitution.

But the NLD now faces dissolution in less than six weeks for failing to register, according to legislation recently brought in for elections due to be held by the end of November.
