Democrats as the Merovingian: Understanding the politics of rage

Morpheus: You know why we are here.

Merovingian: I am a trafficker of information.  I know everything I can .. the question is .. do YOU know why you are here.

Morpheus: We are looking for the keymaker.

Merovingian: Oh yes, it is true.  The keymaker, of course.  But this is not a reason, this is not a why.  The keymaker himself, his very nature is a means, it is not an end, and so, to be looking for him is to be looking for a means to do … what?

Neo: You know the answer to that question.

Merovingian: But do YOU?  You think you do but you do not.  You are here because you were SENT here.  You were told to come here and you obeyed.  It is of course the way of all things.  You see, there is only one constant, one universality, it is the only real truth – causality .. action, reaction, cause, and effect.

Morpheus: Everything begins with choice.

Merovingian: No .. wrong.  Choice is an illusion created between those with power and those without.

Merovingian: Causality .. there is no escape from it.  We are forever slaves to it.  Our only hope is to understand it .. to understand WHY.  WHY is what separates us from them.  WHY is the only real source of power, you from me .. without it you are powerless.  And this is how you come to me .. without why, without power — another link in the chain?

But fear not.  Since I have seen how good you are at following orders, I will tell you what to do next.  Run back and give the fortune teller this message .. her time is almost up.

If you are an Obama supporting Democrat, ask yourself WHY.

I understand, but do you?  You can dismiss, you can gesticulate, toss aside, but I understand WHY and you do not.  And deliberately choosing not to understand will not help you or your vision of the future here.

Think to yourself, and understand, we are in a country where it is acceptable for our politicians to play games and waste time with millions of lives.  Every second, every minute our politicians waste on their petty demands, is another second that people die without adequate health care in this country.

Every second, every minute, our politicians waste on their petty demands is another person kicked out of the military because they’re gay, or another second, another minute our politicians waste is another second wasted on ending the ceaseless country, life and budget destroying rathole that is Afghanistan and Iraq.

And this — this is the environment mainstream Democrats choose to kvetch endlessly about the supposed stupidity of the average voter.

Here’s a clue — if you have a country in which it is acceptable (and you justify) politicians playing games with millions of people’s lives on the basis of well, that’s just the way it’s done, you should not be surprised if, in a much smaller scale and in a much tinier version, the voters choose to play games with your politics.

Put another way, why should I feel guilty, even if I were to do the worst thing I could possibly do, and vote for and give money to my worst enemies politically?  After all, Barack Obama could not be bothered if my gay brothers or sisters are literally murdered in Uganda, except to pithily observe that it is “odious”.

The worst harm I could do is a few dollars and a couple of votes.  Every waking hour Obama and the Democrats spend, millions of lives literally hang in the balance of their next decisions.  Their betrayals, if they exist, are a little more consequential than mine.

You can tell me over and over again how the Republicans would rape my dead mother and sell my non existent children into slavery.

But at the bottom line — you Democrats, you supposed liberals were supposed to be my friends.  It is human nature to understand, someone is going to go to much further extremes to destroy a lying, backstabbing friend, than he ever would to stick it to a common enemy.

And you think I still care?
