Friday Evening Photoblogging: Needle Park Edition

This dairy that is cross-posted at Firefly-Dreaming and Progressive Blue was my 400th diary at Dkos. I was working on an enormous diary about orchid photos to celebrate the Orchid Show at the New York Botanical Garden but it got too complicated to finish in one afternoon, so I posted photos from my morning.

I do have an very informative diary here that is an update of last years show and here is one from next week’s attempt.

Anyway below the fold is just a little morning walk with my camera. I hope you enjoy them.

Do you remember the movie The Panic in Needle Park? The neighborhood has changed a bit. Uptown Broadway traffic has been closed off for years and the park has been extended.

Tax dollars well spent has build a new 72nd St. subway kiosk to mirror the old one across the street in Sherman square.

I guess that middle photo was the picture of the day. I like the shadows and I was amazed to see the turnstiles empty for once.

Okay moving right along, walking up Broadway.

And a look back.

Ah look at the cute little babies.

And the sidewalk fruit stand is doing well.

One of the many sidewalk booksellers along Broadway.

The bookseller uses the Ansonia as his base of operation, once the home of Plato’s Retreat. And will you look at the size of that dog.

What’s going on at Fairway?

“Like no other Market.”

But wait, stop! Big news at Citarella!

Food has once again become window art at Citarella.

Well I can offer three from tonight’s sunset.

But I think I’ll close out with a self portrait.
