Sheer Stupidity

(11 am. – promoted by ek hornbeck)

There has been an uproar over the new health care bill from the left and right. On the left, it was that the health bill didn’t go far enough and became a give-a-away to the insurance industry. On the right, it has been nothing short of sheer stupidity.

There isn’t a better example of sheer stupidity than this:

First there was Dr. Cassell firing patients. Then there’s “dermdoc” bragging on a message board that he has just laid off his first Obama-voting employee. From CBS News’ Political Hotsheet:

Last Friday, someone going by the name “dermdoc” posted a thread on a message board for Texas A&M students and alumni with this topic: “Laid off my first Obama voting employee today.”

“Our reimbursement rates are spiraling downward, taxes are projected to go up with Obamacare, so I did it,” the person wrote. He later added: “I made this decision because I can.”

“It is kind of interesting watching their face as you explain to them the economic consequences of the policies of the guy they voted for,” wrote dermdoc.

The original message board thread has now been removed, but that didn’t deter “dermdoc” from expanding on his original thesis.

“Elections have consequences,” wrote dermdoc. “If you vote for someone who raises my taxes and lowers my income, you pay the cost.”

“My office manager and med business guru have calculated that this is just the beginning. Tax rates are going to go through the roof with additional Obamacare taxes AND the expiration of the Bush tax cuts,” he added. “And most analysts think reimbursement rates for docs will go down about 20-25% the next 2 years, and that is BEFORE Obamacare really kicks in.”

And, we then learn, that this was all just a case of the person being an idiot…

UPDATE (Nicole): Apparently unused to the wild and wooly world of the blogosphere and the unvarnished criticisms that go with it, “dermdoc” has denied any layoffs and slams the media for not doing any actually confirming before running the story (h/t Scott):

there was no layoff of anyone at my office.

Any of you reddit dweebs can check my employment records or call my office on Monday.

   IT WAS ALL A TROLL!

I was merely making a hypothetical because of frustration with decreased reimbursements and future increased taxes.

It is really hard to believe that simply by posting a topic on the internet that I could make newspapers, several national talk radio talk shows-WITHOUT ANY VERIFICATION.

Whatever. What has the US become when you have entire web sites of people sitting around just waiting to screw with people and their families without even checking out the source.

Granted, all of this is my fault but any “Ag” who would screw with other Ags or this website because of one unverified post needs to seriously check out their life.

All you lefties can call off the preemptive strikes on me or my family, my wife actually was the one who made me do this because she feared for our safety.

   I am done.

He was simply making a HYPOTHETICAL statement, you see, because he was FRUSTRATED. And, the only reason we KNOW it was just this poster being stupid, is because wife MADE HIM admit it because she feared for her safety.

Truly.

This dipshit posts on a message board bragging on how he got to layoff a person that voted for Obama, but, he was JUST talking in a hypothetical sense. Then, when it blows up in his face, he was FORCED to admit he was just being a typical, stupid, reactionary conservative.

Yes, you idiot, it IS all your fault. You stoked the fires and then you got burned. All because of your own sheer stupidity.

  1. And another blogger turned me on to Dmitry Orlov.

  2. than what he did.  On health care and a great many other matters.  Do we hold people in this country responsible for their votes?  Why, yes, yes we do, when it’s a person who just happened to vote for Nader, for example, and thus, theoretically, but not really, delivering the 2000 election to George W. Bush.

But do we lay people off?  Go snooping around their phones and their email messages and their blog entries, to personally discredit them, for their votes?  Do we start denying them health care?  Do we start persecuting people in their work and their home lives based on their private vote at the ballot box?  A vote that, despite whatever people say about their vote after the fact, is still sacrosanct?

I would hope not.  I might have thought that a person voting for Bush in reality was an idiot, but I never would have conflated that with, say, a person’s job performance, or their eligibility to do anything any other citizen would do.

But, if we’re going to start, well, mea culpa, I guess.  I might as well just shoot myself in the head.

But, for Republicans, what goes around comes around.  I hope not.  But if they put that into the social arena, I hope they’re not too stupid, and realize that could backfire, mighty quick.

  3. Some weeks ago, before the HC vote, Hannity had a caller stating how she had to fire people to save her business because of HC. I couldn’t help but wonder, besides how can one be so stupid, how many of the unemployed are victims of rightwing stupidity and how many are Obama voters. Disturbing to say the least.

Idiot ‘dermdoc’ and a liar to boot. If I remember right someone took a pic of the sign on the door.
