to thank him for his stand on FinReg.  The call volume is heavy and I was directed to voicemail.  I can imagine many of those calls are from those asking him to take one for the gypper. (that’s a soft g)  Uh uh.  If anyone here wants to go to his page and listen to the short video and his reasons for not voting for this sorry piece of phlegm – pls. call Sen. Feingold.

I had forgotten he was one of 8 senators who voted against repeal of Glass – Steagall and also a voice for Librarians in the early days of bush’s presidency.

Also if anyone is interested in the rundown of the let’s continue the Afghan War forever supplemental funding bill – David Dayan has a good post in FDL as to the bill and its many progeny.  (I hope no one here minds the plug – but we have to know what’s happening.)

  1. home not online so much yet…. back to being busy with various projects. Had a great time. Sheesh my family is crazy. lol

  2. Obama’s national security officials, on the night watch:

With two wars, multiple crises abroad and growing terrorism activity at home, these national security officials do not sleep in peace. For them, the night is a public vigil. It is also a time of private reckoning with their own tensions and doubts. They read the highest classification of intelligence. They pursue the details of plots that realize the nation’s vague, yet primal, fears.

I find our nation’s fears to be quite clear … unfortunately.

  3. NOAA Models Long-Term Oil Threat to Gulf and East Coast Shoreline

NOAA has used modeling of historical wind and ocean currents to project the likelihood that surface oil from the Deepwater Horizon/BP oil spill will impact additional U.S. coastline. This modeling, part of NOAA’s comprehensive response to the unprecedented Gulf oil disaster, can help guide the ongoing preparedness, response and cleanup efforts.

“This NOAA model shows where oil may be likely to travel, thereby giving coastal states and communities information about potential threats of shoreline impacts. This kind of information should assist in the preparation of adequate preparedness measures,” said Jane Lubchenco, Ph.D., under secretary of commerce for oceans and atmosphere and NOAA administrator. “NOAA is strongly committed to providing reliable information to the public and to responders at all levels.” Continued

    Snip

Updated scenarios and more information about the model

They have six animated links at the site, three are gif files and three are mp4, of possible oil travel, this is just one of the possibilities.

This site has a Ton of information to study, and better explains what many have been trying to as to the loop current and much of the Florida Gulf Coastal area’s, such as those I know on Sanibel Island not being in the loop but the Soutern tip and some of the lower East Coast of the state a probability.
