Cypher: I know what you’re thinking, ’cause right now I’m thinking the same thing. Actually, I’ve been thinking it ever since I got here: Why oh why didn’t I take the BLUE pill?
markos: “I get that there are those who think Obama can do no wrong, or that criticism of his more boneheaded moves are beyond the pale. But the only people applauding Obama’s move to freeze federal salaries made no one happy except the Villagers.
…
Had Obama ceded this action as part of a broader deal that included, say, letting the millionaire tax cuts expire, then it would be unpleasant (and bad economics), but at least you could justify it as a necessary concession in search of a deal with the GOP. But Obama negotiates against himself, time and time again, without demanding a single vote or concession from the GOP.
Defend the man all you want, but there’s nothing in the world that’ll support the notion that the President has an ounce of negotiating acumen in him. He just thinks, time and time again, that showing good faith will win him GOP support. All the while, they laugh in his face.
Obama supporters, be pissed off about that — that Republicans are making a joke out of Obama, and that he’s enabling that. Don’t get pissed at those who point out what is painfully obvious. Us growing cadre of critics want Obama to succeed, and are screaming at him to quit this current path, because it leads to nothing but pain and suffering — otherwise known as President Palin.”

It wouldn’t be enough to totally appease them, but it would go a long way toward proving they are “responsible.” {digby}

Trinity: I know why you’re here, Neo. I know what you’ve been doing… why you hardly sleep, why you live alone, and why night after night, you sit by your computer. You’re looking for him. I know because I was once looking for the same thing. And when he found me, he told me I wasn’t really looking for him. I was looking for an answer. It’s the question that drives us, Neo. It’s the question that brought you here. You know the question, just as I did.
Neo: What is the Matrix?
Trinity: The answer is out there, Neo, and it’s looking for you, and it will find you if you want it to.

Pretty soon, I’ll just start speaking in tongues.
Oh, forgot this one, heh:
I find four great classes of students: The dumb who stay dumb. The dumb who become wise. The wise who go dumb. The wise who remain wise.

He’s not. He’s doing what he does because he can’t do anything else. If you have a bunch of gangsters with guns lounging around the White House are you going to call the gangster’s underlings to arrest them? I don’t think so. He doesn’t have the power to do much of anything. He’s head of state and his role is largely ceremonial. That’s what I’ve seen since he took office. He talks nice and has nice suits.
Radicals need to analyze who actually has the power.

God bless Jeff Kaye (Valtin) still writing and posting at FDL.
There’s a repeated assumption that Obama negotiates “against himself”. Why is it assumed that he isn’t doing exactly what he wants to be doing? After all, this is the man that immediately upon his election, named Rahm Emmanuel, Lawrence Summers and Timothy Gaithner as his inner circle on domestic policy, and kept on the Republican Robert Gates at the Pentagon. If he behaves like a corporate rightist, maybe that’s because that’s just what he is.

thanks buhd.
I dont mean this so much to make any substantial commentary re Obama administration, per se … more so… Im not sure. I find it odd, I guess, to see these more “prominant” (so called) lefty bloggers just now finally getting around to saying out loud what many of the less “prominant” bloggers have been saying for quite some time now.
And Ive only skimmed some of today’s other news items, the release of that DADT Survey for one.
Its all one big DUH…
It must be very difficult for a few particular key bloggers to refrain from just going all out “We told ya so.” I must say, I admire their restraint.
I may be stealing that at some point 🙂
