Really? All of us?
But they will never take our freedom to calculate pension benefits based on inflation, or earnings, whichever is higher.
The real news, as well as this week’s guests and Ken Burns 2 part web exclusive extended interview below.
This week’s guests-
The Daily Show
- Tuesday 9/16: Bill Hader
- Wednesday 9/17: Zephyr Teachout
- Thursday 9/18: Jessica Chastain
The Colbert Report
- Tuesday 9/16: Unlocking the Truth
- Wednesday 9/17: Viggo Mortensen
- Thursday 9/18: Terry Gilliam
It’s unlikely that Bill Hader will be talking about his uncredited cameo in 22 Jump Street or his work on The Venture Brothers which is what I would be most interested in and I suspect instead he’s tag teaming with Mindy Kaling on The Mindy Project about which the ‘big’ news last night was that it may (or may not) tackle the issue of abortion where I agree with digby that you’d think after 40 years reproductive freedom was pretty much a given.
Unlocking the Truth is a New York City Metal Band notable mostly for it’s extreme youth. They are all about 13 years old and have just signed a contract with Sony for a 2 Record deal (with an option for 4 more) for a $410,000 advance.
Now that may seem like a lot of money, but an advance is just that- an advance against future royalties and if the records suck and don’t sell the group could be in serious financial trouble even though their percentage (in the 16% – 17% range) is quite generous for the music business. The contract had to be approved by the New York State Supreme Court.
But I’m sure their label and management have only their best interests at heart, Record Companies are notorious softies of whom a famous writer once noted-
The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There’s also a negative side.
