NCAA Women’s Tournament 2016: National Championship

U – Conn Husky, symbol of might to the foe.
Fight, fight Connecticut, It’s vict’ry, Let’s go.

Connecticut U – Conn Husky,
vict’ry again for the White and Blue

So go – go – go Connecticut, Connecticut U.
C – O – N – N – E – C – T – I – C – U – T
Connecticut, Connecticut Husky, Connecticut Husky
Connecticut C – O – N – N – U! Fight!

So I got my wish and it’s UConn v. Syracuse in the final. Now, while the scores in the Semi-Final may look almost identical, you have to remember Syracuse was a #4 playing a #7 and UConn was a #1 playing a #2. UConn’s margin was in fact the largest in a National Semi-Final, Men or Women.

Other records that will fall tonight- Geno Auriemma will become the Coach with the most National Championships ever (including Wooden), the UConn Seniors will become the only team ever to win National Championships in each of their 4 years in College.

This is Men or Women and includes all sports.

There are some who think that Syracuse’s 3 point shooting ability will be an equalizer. Huskys shoot 3s too and can also defend against them. I hope Syracuse properly appreciates how far their program has come this year, from never been in the Semis straight to the Finals (Washington and Oregon State were first time Semi-Final competitors too).

And I trust we can dismiss the idea that UConn dominance is bad for Women’s Basketball. You want to be the best, you have to beat the best.
