2016 Primaries: State and Local

Bet you thought the silly season ended with the last presidential primary. Wrong. It just continues at the state and local levels. Yesterday Arizona and Florida held theirs. Here are some the more notable results.

Arizona:

Republican Sen. John McCain has also won the primary race for his Senate seat. His main opponent in this race was former Arizona State Senator Kelli Ward. 51.7% – 39.2%

He’ll move on to face Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick, who ran unopposed in her primary.

Florida:

Republican Sen. Marco Rubio easily won his primary against three challengers with 72% of the vote. He will face Republican Democrat Rep. Patrick Murphy who won his primary against the real Democrat Rep. Alan Grayson and three others.

Democratic Rep. Debbi Wasserman-Schultz, disgraced former DNC Chair, won her primary against Sanders backed Tim Canova. She’ll face Republican Joe Kaufman in November. May the best Republican win.

One of the most reviled prosecutors in Florida, and possibly the US, Angela Corey, who failed to get a conviction of George Zimmerman and has overzealous prosecution of juveniles, lost to corporate lawyer and former prosecutor Melissa Nelson.

New York holds their primaries on September 13. The fun continues.
