2016 Junior League Championship Series: Game 1, Blue Jays @ Indians

Both Junior League teams swept their Division Series in 3 games with the Blue Jays (92 – 73) finishing on Sunday (4 days ago) and the Indians (98 – 67) on Monday (3 days ago).

The point is that they’ve both had plenty of time to rest up, the Jays slightly more.

Here’s how each team played in their final game-

Sunday, Rangers @ Blue Jays

Top 1st- Leadoff Walk. Steal. Sacrifice. RBI Sacrifice. Rangers 1 – 0.

Bottom 1st- Leadoff Single. 2 RBI HR. Blue Jays 2 – 1. Solo Shot. Blue Jays 3 – 1.

Top 3rd- Leadoff Solo Shot. Blue Jays 3 – 2.

Bottom 3rd- Leadoff Single. Steal. RBI Ground Rule Double. Blue Jays 4 – 2. RBI Single. Blue Jays 5 – 2.

Top 6th- Leadoff Walk. Sacrifice. 2 RBI HR. Indians 4 – 1.

Bottom 6th- Leadoff Single. Double. RBI Sacrifice. Indians 4 – 2.

Bottom 8th- Single. Fielder’s Choice. Walk. RBI Single. Indiand 4 – 3 Final.

Indians win Series 3 – 0

So tonight the Indians are sending Corey Kluber (R, 18 – 9, 3.14 ERA) out to face the Blue Jays’ Marco Estrada (R, 9 – 9, 3.48 ERA).

Both are 1 game winners in the Division Series. Kluber pitched 7 Innings and gave up 3 Hits and no runs. He had 3 Walks against 7 Strike Outs and posted a blistering 0.00 ERA.

Estrada is not quite as good so far (though he’s very, very good). He pitched 8 and 1/3rd Innings, gave up 4 Hits and 1 Run. He didn’t issue a single Walk and had 6 Strike Outs. His ERA is a still exceptional 1.08.

I’d like the Blue Jays to win as I’m a sucker for under dogs and have no particular love for the Indians.
