Its “The Very Best of Roberta Flack.” I believe this one represents what I need for a representative sample from her career, including many of her top hits (and songs that are dear to me).

for at least the lyrics to a short, profound track from Killing Me Softly. It’s the kind of music I usually ignore, but the lyrics intrigued me. When I finally hooked into the words, it instantly became one of my favorite songs. It’s called Conversation Love. I think Bill Seighman wrote the lyrics. I wonder if anyone besides me was touched by that song.

I remember the beginning: “Throw sad reflections,

to the wind where they belong.”

I’m still looking, because I want to recover that poem for myself.
