The woman in the video below is Patricia Churchill, who tells the story of a member of her family who lost her job and insurance and has cancer that needs treating NOW.
The full quote of what Rep. Cantor (Fink-VA) said was “there is probably 23, 24% of the uninsured that is already eligible for an existing government program […] Beyond that, I know that there are programs, there are charitable organizations. . .”
Rep. Cantor went on to say “No one in this country, given who we are, should be sitting without an option to be addressed.”
Yesterday, Eric Cantor called for “Scrapping” the Public Option.

The correct answer was “We are working as hard as we can to fix a broken health care system”
That was the correct answer, Mr. Cantor.
Too bad it was to last thing on your mind. Instead you were grasping for excuses. Even if you had said it, it would have been a lie, since you and the Republican party are NOT looking for a solution or trying to fix health care. You like it just the way it is, expensive, profitable, and lining your pockets with campaign donations.
And that’s disgustin.
Republican House Minority Whip Eric Cantor finally held a “public square” meeting with his constituents after dodging the town hall scene all summer. Ever the slime ball, Cantor proves just how heartless the GOP and it’s leadership truly is.
Conservatives have gone from “Compassionate Conservativism” to Assholes without Empathy in the time it takes someone to say “Strategery”, and Eric Cantor is living proof that sometimes, something besides the cream manages to make it to the top.
Here is a transcript of the video for those who can not watch it.
CHURCHILL: I have a very close relative, a woman in her early forties, who did have a wonderful, high-paying job, owns her own home and is a real contributing member of society. She lost her job. Just a couple of weeks ago, she found out that she has tumors in her belly and that she needs an operation. Her doctors told her that they are growing and that she needs to get this operation quickly. She has no insurance. […]CANTOR: First of all I guess I would ask what the situation is in terms of income eligibility and the existing programs that are out there. Because if we look at the uninsured that are out there right now, there is probably 23, 24% of the uninsured that is already eligible for an existing government program […] Beyond that, I know that there are programs, there are charitable organizations, there are hospitals here who do provide charity care if there’s an instance of indigency and the individual is not eligible for existing programs that there can be some cooperative effort. No one in this country, given who we are, should be sitting without an option to be addressed.
Afterwards, Churchill was asked to respond to House Minority Whip Eric Cantor’s advice. She was quoted as saying . . .
“it was helpful in a sense, but of course nowhere near as helpful as having this healthcare reform bill passed so that we could know that she could definitely go and get taken care of.”
Such a classy response, I wonder if Ms. Churchill is a Democrat, and if so, can we get her to run for Congress?
But the gist of what Cantor and the Republican party is telling working class Americans is “We will NOT spend OUR tax money on YOU (unless it is military spending), there are Corporate profits to think of and taxes (for rich people) to cut!”
The case needs to start being made that Republican obstruction and NO!ism is hurting the country, hurting ouur economy and hurting working class families. The fact that Cantor can tell a citizen with a straight face that she should go to a charity and ask for help instead of the Government she pays taxes to (which pays HIS salary and provides for HIS healthcare) is a disgrace of the highest order.
At the same time, the GOP is painting themselevs into a red corner of NO! They soon will not be able to budge out of that corner without facing the wrath of their loony, CT fed base, even when it is in their interests to do so.
But telling a cancer victim who needs help now anything other than a quick and honest ” We will work to get you the help you need” is a crying shame.
I guess we shouldn’t accept anything less from a political party that will provide you a doctor if we are torturing you for intelligence manufacturing purposes but not just because you are an American tax payer. After all, there already are existing Governement programs, charities and for-profit private organizations for that.
The correct answer to soothe Ms. Churchill when she is worried about how her uinsured, cancer striken relative during a raging debate on Health Care Reform was “We are working as hard as we can to fix a broken health care system”
That was the correct answer, Mr. Cantor.
And if you had said that, Mr. Cantor, it would have been a lie.
And that’s disgusting.
These so called Moral Conservatives are just disgusting. No wonder Jesus is always crying in the pictures.
