At last, we have the right strategy and the civilian and military leaders on the ground in Afghanistan to carry it out. This is a must-win war. And now is the time to commit the decisive military force necessary to prevail.
And, you TRUST these nice folks, right?
And Sarah Palin, William Kristol, and Karl Rove so enthusiastically support a ramp-up in Afghanistan that they, among other Neo-cons, signed a letter to President Obama urging him to do it.
WASHINGTON – A distinguished group of Americans active in the foreign policy debate expressed support today for the U.S. effort in Afghanistan, and called upon President Obama to continue to provide the necessary resources requested by his commanders on the ground to ensure success. In an open letter organized by the Foreign Policy Initiative (FPI), the group offered its appreciation for the president’s decision earlier this year to deploy 21,000 additional U.S. troops to the country, and urged him to continue to properly resource the war effort.
Of course, the “distinguished group of Americans” being described is the Foreign Policy Initiative, which is being called “Project for the New American Century 2.0”, both organizations founded by the “distinguished” Mr. Kristol.
Certainly you remember Project for the New American Century 1.0; you know, the ones who brought us the good reasoning for invading Iraq?:
In January 1998, PNAC published an open letter to President Clinton calling for “the removal of Saddam Hussein’s regime from power”, by military force if necessary. The letter was signed by many who would become architects and backers of the 2003 invasion of Iraq, including Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Abrams, future deputy secretary of state Richard Armitage, and future U.N. ambassador John Bolton.
In September 2001, only days after the 9/11 attacks, another PNAC letter called on President Bush to broaden the scope of the “war on terror” beyond those immediately responsible for the attacks to include Iraq and Lebanon’s Hezbollah.
And, Neo-cons Dan Senor and Peter Wehner, former members of W’s White House team are stating:
We also believe supporting the president’s Afghanistan policy is politically smart for Republicans.
Hmmmm. Now, are Neo-cons advocating to expend our troops’ lives, because it’s politically expedient for Republicans?
