I was in Mexico City in Aug 68′, just before the Olympic games, a very tense experience around “el monumento de la revolucion”. The people’s park demonstration was really wild in May, 69′. Berkely was about as close as you could get to feelings of “change you can believe in”– At least until 1972ish——————————————-
Reagan hated the filthy hippies, black radicals and anything to do with women’s lib. He was the perfect father of modern american corporate hegemony. As a smooth salesman to get blue collar workers to blame all their problems on the minorities and government spending, and thus to vote against their own economic interests. Those are the teabaggers and their descendents today. We can never underestimate the power of hatred. Light the match and it can grow fast. The conservatives/wingnuts are far from being in the twilight of their existence. This is what I thought a few months ago, but I have reassessed my thoughts.
to bring them home, MomCat. And I’d like to thank you for your service, I know by reading your past posts that you went through Hell, but I think it made you a strong and resilient individual, you inspire me. Don’t know what else I could really say that you haven’t already heard or thought except Thank You, and I mean it.
James Blunt, and “No Bravery.” This is the original version of his. He was a UK soldier, came home and became an activist against the war(s). His vision, understanding, etc. should touch every single human being. (BTW, he was awarded for his stand and given some sort of “bravery” symbol.”)
