Kill This Bill

(9 am. – promoted by ek hornbeck)

This bill just gets worse. Sen. Ben Nelson turned down a compromise to his draconian proposal on abortion and now says he has “other” concerns about the bill.

compromise Holdout senator rejects abortion compromise

WASHINGTON – A moderate Democrat whose vote could be crucial said Thursday an attempted Senate compromise on abortion is unsatisfactory, raising doubts about whether the chamber can pass President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul by Christmas.

“As it is, without modifications, the language concerning abortion is not sufficient,” Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson, a key holdout on the health care bill, said in a statement after first making his concerns known to Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.

Nelson said there were positive improvements dealing with teen pregnancy and adoption, and that he was open to further negotiations. But in a radio interview earlier in the day with KLIN in Lincoln, Nebraska, Nelson also said that abortion wasn’t his only concern and he didn’t see how the Christmas deadline was achievable.

This travesty that is passing as health care reform is splitting the Democratic Party in two with the White House and, now former Pres Bill Clinton, criticizing Dr. Howard Dean.

Liberal Revolt on Health Care Stings White House

Former President Bill Clinton echoed the theme, issuing a statement in which he urged fellow Democrats to “take it from someone who knows: these chances don’t come around every day.” Mr. Clinton’s former chief of staff, John Podesta, a close Obama ally, pushed back against Mr. Dean on the Internet and on television.

Of course the Republicans are feigning surprise at the Democrat vs. Democrat fall out over the bill with Sen. John McCain now saying he sides with Dr. Dean.

Republicans, who have been going all out to kill the bill, couldn’t believe what they were hearing from Democrats.

“If you live long enough, all things can happen,” Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said on the Senate floor. “I now find myself in complete agreement with Dr. Howard Dean, who says that we should stop this bill in its tracks. … Dr. Dean, I am with you.”

Sen. Bernie Sanders has stated the he may not vote for the bill because it doesn’t do enough to regulate insurance companies. It remains unclear if that means he will not vote for cloture.

Bernie Sanders May Not Vote for Health Bill

Sen. Bernie Sanders, the liberal Independent from Vermont, said on Wednesday that he cannot accept the bill as it is currently shaping up because it does not control costs or rein in health insurance companies.

“I’m struggling with this,” Sanders said Wednesday evening on Fox News. “As of this point, I’m not voting for the bill… I’m going to do my best to make this bill a better bill, a bill that I can vote for, but I’ve indicated both to the White House and the Democratic leadership that my vote is not secure at this point.”

Now another voice has been added to the opposition. Sen. Roland Burris (D-IL), who replaced Obama in the Senate, stated that he could not vote for this bill because it lacks a public option or a government run insurance plan.

Hopefully there will be enough nay votes to kill this bull

    to kill the bill

  1. had debbie wasser shults on and got into a heated shut up no you shut up just answer the question match.

    Damn I missed the beginning but Im sure it will pop up in tube form on the toobz.

    He was talking about how the Insurance Co’s stock are going up up up and he asked Debbie to address Why is that? Debbie just ran off with the standard Dem Talking Points and when pressed, said Well Im not a stock analyst, why dont you invite a stocks expert on if thats your only question. etc. Then he just shouted her down, which I thought was stupid but Im guessing some will applaud that.

    WHAT HE SHOULDVE SAID was… Can’t We The People expect You, our legislators and pols, to have at least some kind of functional understanding of this whole stocks thing? or something along those lines.

    Good morning D’nuts.

    I probably have to cancel my Supplemental Medicare insurance – it’s risen about 50% in last three years and will get worse.  Will mandates cover supplemental?  Will I be obligated to keep it – and it covers less and less (that’s a given).

  2. Bernie Sanders is now working on a better and more refined Amendment, from that which he had attempted to propose on the floor, when asked to read it in its entirety.

    I’ve been calling my Congressman and Senators every other day this week, and voicing my sentiments, loud and strong, such as,

    You know, we Americans get to pay for everything and STFU;

    — pay for illegals wars that we don’t want, in order that war profiteers can continue making the obscene profits that they have for over eight years now;

    — pay for bailouts that we didn’t want to the criminal scum on Wall Street who “robbed us, so they could continue their obscene lavish lifestyles and, continue on in their unregulated and greedy behavior;

    — pay and continue to pay the greedy drug and healthcare industries, while they continue to call the shots on “who shall live and who shall die,” while living obscene lavish lifestyles; and

    — pay, while corporations and wealthy individuals continue to be able to safeguard their wealth in off-shore banking in avoidance of taxes; and

    — pay . . . . pay . . . . and pay,

    while Americans live in tent cities all across America,

    and we can’t get so much as a decent, strong public option health care plan — one that extends to ALL Americans and regulating the drug and health care industries with premium costs’ constraints?  The health care industries have screwed Americans over for more than 50 years now.  ENOUGH!  We need and should have SINGLE-PAYER — that is the most sensible solution.

    Please KILL this disgusting BILL in the Senate NOW!  It’s for the insurance companies, not us!

    And, I’m going to keep doing it!

    It is pathetic, isn’t it!  Frankly, I’m convinced and have been for some time now that the goal is to try reduce the population — you know if people are poor enough, they can’t eat properly, get proper medical help, etc. and so what happens!
