Corruption

A government Of The People, By The People, and For The People

The People wanted the Public Option, The People STILL want a Public Option, but The people can’t have a Public Option. Why not, if this is A government Of The People, By The People, and For The People? One word…..

Corruption.

Back room deals, “campaign contributions,” lobbyists and the members of Congress who serve them, and an entrenched Status Quo that was and is designed to serve The Corporations….NOT The People.

A Status Quo and a way of “doing business” that we were promised would “Change” if a certain candidate got elected. The same candidate who promised transparency and open government is the candidate that made the backroom deals that determined and ensured that HCR would be for, of and by the The Corporations.

And thus, indisputably AGAINST The People.

Corrupt Senators, Corrupt House members, a corrupt system. In both Parties. At all levels. And a White House that instead of “Changing” that system, at the very LEAST plays along with it.

The People have spoken loud and clear what they want. The Politicians and Corporations have said a flat blank NO. And are not even doing much to attempt to cover up or even obfuscate or obscure WHY the People can’t get what The People have unmistakeably told their government they want.

Corruption.

Bald, brazen, and in your face.

YOUR government is corrupt, and no one in power seems to have any idea or intention of doing anything about it. After all it is all “legal.” The fact that the very same people who are so corrupt wrote the laws that makes their corruption “legal” is just the ridiculous icing on the absurd cake that We The People are being told to eat.

And what is the cherry of lunacy on top of this farce of a cake?

That the response to it all is not to root out the corrupt, not to join together as one to use People Power to take our government back from the corrupt cowards, not to use the tools we have to Yell Louder to Change the System as we were promised….

But that instead those tools are being used to try to burn at the stake anyone who DOES try to find a way to change it.

In their zeal to protect one politician from criticism, a segment of the blogosphere has decide that THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO DO….

Is attack…a blogger.

Not attacking the system, not the exposing and rooting out the corruption of the system, not protesting the the fact that we no longer have a government of, by and for The People but a government wholly bought to act against the interests of The People. No that would make sense, that would be the right thing to do, the constructive thing to do, the thing that NEEDS to be done.

The very thing that people Power and Internet activism was MADE to do.

Instead all of the Power of that tool has been trained on a single target with the am of smearing and destroying …

ONE…..BLOGGER.

If i was a republican, what would I want the vast and demonstrated power of the (once) Liberal blogs to do to neuter their effectiveness?

Why, gosh I would want them to do …..EXACTLY what they are doing right now.

The self-righteousness and sanctimony and EFFECTIVENESS of (once) Liberal Blogs has been hijacked and directed NOT at a failed and corrupt system that with a stiff push from a united Left could be toppled, cleaned out and remade for it’s original purpose.

But no, it is more important for the sanctimonious to have an EASY target. A sacrificial pigeon to take out all of the angst that has been generated by their venerated hero betraying them to the Insurance Corporations upon.

Taking on the corruption of their government would be HARD. It would require thought, not reaction. It would require organization of more than a witch hunt. it would require dedication and hard work instead of sanctimony and self-righteous indignation. And they are just not up to that task….at least not when they have a handy distraction….someone to smear and attack.

God Forbid they actually use their power where it would do some good….but that would take thought effort and planning, far more than going after one single …blogger does.

Fighting corruption? Naw, that’s not important to them….not when they have a blogger to destroy.

  2. a tenth of the energy plowing Republicans under that they spend plowing under people on the left who say inconvenient things.  Especially since Republicans only sound loud and scary, but tend to run at the first sign of true resistance and pushback.

I do wonder, though, why and how people can be so fatuous as to play the Democratic loyalty card on the rank and file.

Let’s see — if I am not a loyal Democrat, I am scum, but playing cheese eating surrender monkey to Republicans in Congress just means I have to vote for that person again and again, or be personally responsible for bringing hell to America.

  3. From the WaPo, seems Obama has decided to quote his own bots:

President Obama rejected in an interview Tuesday the criticism that he has compromised too much in order to secure health-care reform legislation, challenging his critics to identify any “gap” between what he campaigned on last year and what Congress is on the verge of passing.

“Nowhere has there been a bigger gap between the perceptions of compromise and the realities of compromise than in the health-care bill,” Obama said in an Oval Office interview with The Washington Post about his legislative record this year. “Every single criteria for reform I put forward is in this bill.”

My response would be to quote Big Tent Democrat (whom I don’t agree with when it comes to his stance, but this is a gem) quoting Charles Pierce:

Pass the POS. Don’t pass the POS. But don’t tell me we’re all moving forward together through a historic moment. Y’all sound like idiots. — Charles Pierce

I wonder if Obama believes his own hype.

My favorite notion is that one of the “criterion” Obama insisted upon was cost control.  We are dealing with a virtual monopoly here — we are dealing with a government who can’t enforce its own regulations.

And once again, the folks least able to deal with this will be the collateral damage.

Absurd is the word.  Absurd absurd absurd.

The Edge… There is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

  4. … Obamargumentation:

Obama said the public option “has become a source of ideological contention between the left and right.” But, he added, “I didn’t campaign on the public option.”

“We don’t feel that the core elements to help the American people have been compromised in any significant way,” Obama said. “Do these pieces of legislation have exactly everything I want? Of course not. But they have the things that are necessary to reduce costs for businesses, families and the government.”

He didn’t campaign on the public option?  Ack.

He didn’t care that most Americans wanted the public option?

He didn’t talk in town hall meeting after town hall meeting about how he thought the public option was the best way to control costs (all the while refusing to fight for what the American people wanted)?

And does he think the folks there at those meetings didn’t get from him that he was, as President now, campaigning for the public option?

Nope, nothing has been compromised, nothing to see here, folks.

What the fuck possible difference does it make what he campaigned on?  What the fuck does that have to do with healtcare?  And what does it have to do with representing the people who put you in office, Mr. President?

  5. DailyKos today titled Meanwhile, The Machine Laughs that makes the same points regarding the fierce Hamsher fighting.

It has received about 10 comments in the past two hours. I guess the DKos attitude is why reflect on purpose or effectiveness when there’s out-group bashing to be done?

I have just about given up on this species.

  6. for control of “the” government. They both belong in the

trash heap of history, but continue to believe in their

relevance. They both love being on stage and acting out their pompous roles, and they’ll keep doing it as long as the audience doesn’t walk out.

We need to hiss and boo and throw pie in their faces. This show’s been running way, way too long. They’re actually trying to force us to buy tickets for this fiasco of a performance. Who in their right mind can sit for this?

Some say it’s the only show in town. I say I don’t need no crap ass entertainment from complete freaks and their groupies.

The simple response to the cheerleaders, excuse makers and rationalizers is simply to say:  “we have moved on from Obama.  He no longer disappoints.  He has failed.  What he says has no credibility.  We are now looking at other avenues to bring the change the Country so badly needs.  We are not looking to you or your boss for that.  With each post, you acknowledge you, and he, are simply not up to that task.

No more time to waste on Obamabots.  Time for to figure out how to effect real change.

decline as a result of an HCR bill, then the bill should not pass!

  8. This is the only way to wrestle control from the corporations. Democratic politicians need the corporate funding now and so can’t represent their constituents as they could if they didn’t have to raise piles of money each election.

Also, public funding costs (only) a few billion per election, which is nothing compared to the savings when elected politicians would not have special interests that they need to keep happy.
