There is, I suppose, a remote possibility that Obama and the democrats might finally wake up and realize they need the independent and liberal votes they’ve thrown away since inauguration day last year, and that all the corporate donations in the world aren’t going to save them without those votes, and start producing some useful progressive legislation and pass it in time for the midterms.
They could have independents and liberals all across the country rewarding them for results instead of turning their backs on empty promises and the largest landslides in history this November with just a few simple moves.
Creating and passing a universal single payer health care bill for example might do it all by itself, for example.
Although they could probably sew it right up it for themselves by also starting torture and war crimes trials for Bush and Cheney, while withdrawing from Iraq and Afghanistan and breaking up the big Wall Street investment banks and doing Ken Lay numbers on Goldman Sachs‘s Lloyd Blankfein and Magnetar‘s Alec Litowitz, while firing Tim Geithner, Ben Bernanke, and Rahm Emanuel.
They’ve got 4 whole months, after all.
They’re smart people, right? They should be at least half as smart as all those independent and progressives who won’t vote for them unless they do those things, right?
I mean, Obama and the democrats can’t possibly be stupid enough to actually believe that independents and liberals are stupid enough to vote to continue being screwed by them, can they?

Somewhere in his cerebral cortex is a representation of what he believes “must be true.” His entire cerebral cortex is no bigger than a large dinner napkin, determining the fate of the world.

The reality can be sitting right there in front of the Democrats, staring them in the face, but what I keep coming back to is that we have to look at it from their perspective, that is, that of elected Democrats in Washington, not because they can’t see it our way, but because they won’t.
In other words, they’ll see their defeat in November, losing the House, etc., as not being conservative or “centrist” enough. In their little minds, it won’t be because they did too much to cooperate with Republicans, but too little.
Even now, they are parading around and acting “tough” on financial reform legislation with loopholes and non-accountability big enough to run a fleet of rail cars through.
They can’t see defeat out of acting “tough” with Republicans by doing everything they ever wanted or thought they could get in the first place. What incentive do the Republicans have to not act the way they do? If the Democrats and Obama have provided that at any point, I’ve not seen it.
Republican attack (which the repubs probably being too frightened to do anyhow)and to praise withdrawal from two wars (which is a no brainer)and to laud the wholesale cleanup of Wallstreet (which is a no brainer) and to send the Republican Party into oblivion……………….?
They see a rotten fish corrupt republic steered by rotten fish corrupt democrats who make certified insane republicans look semi rational. And the republic descends further into the cultural void.
save the Democrats in November; shouldn’t we be looking towards the quicker end to this failed state that a Repug return to power will hasten? And third, do you think it possible that Rahm Emmanuel will be right as he was on the HCR vote and progressives will cave as usual and run to the polls to support the Dems cause as Michael Moore decided on the last day: “Me oh My, we have to vote Dem or Obama will be weakened?”

Why on earth would I volunteer for people who aren’t only not on my side but whom I would be empowering and enabling to do exactly the thing I don’t want them to do? They are on my side? How so? Do they understand anything about a world that is not necessarily divided into two halves, that there is more in the world than Democrats and Republicans?
Yes, yes, that is exactly what I want to do, to get change (of a type that FUCKS ME) by hailing my new corporatist Democratic overlords. HOW THE FUCK DOES THAT EVEN WORK?
These people are on my side? In whose universe? Nobody who pisses all over my civil rights, for one thing, is on my side in any conceivable manner.
so the only form they will wake up with is the walking dead, zombies. I say bury them and drive a stake through their heart, or what ever you do to kill a zombie. Maybe as fertilizer something could be grown on their grave. At least we would have to face what we are dealing with as a nation instead of this fake shape shifting political beast that really has no party or opposition.
It would be better then expecting and hoping that this monster will somehow change and become ‘good’. All we the people are doing at this point is feeding this insanity by thinking that it is invincible and that this is all we can get as otherwise we will be eaten by something worse. Fear of the unknown keeps it alive. It is in reality a fictitious beast and we only feed it by expectations that it will do something other then what it is doing. We are just the fuel that keeps it’s image alive.
