TocqueDeville’s reality based diary Actually, Yes – I Do Want the Republicans to Win was the best political diary I ever read in my life and I got a slightly different message for it than most.

I got the message that I’ve been getting for my fellow Americans all my life. “Don’t waste your fucking time.”

I’m taking plan c and picking up the phone tomorrow morning to tell that Democrat that I’m handing out fliers for and going to be a poll watcher for “I’m done.” For the primary I’ll vote for any progress I can find and on election day I will check in and vote for nobody.

I’ve had conversations lately with people who follow politics and public affairs, but aren’t that close to the economic discussion – and I’ve discovered that there are two comforting delusions still out there.

Delusion #l is that we’re on the road to recovery just more slowly than we’d like; to be fair, the White House keeps saying this.

But it’s not at all true…employment, even if you focus on private employment, is growing more slowly than the working age population. If you ask how long it will take us to return to, say, 5 percent unemployment on the current track, the answer is forever.

or until the 12th of never if Johnny Mathis is singing it.

Delusion #2 is about the stimulus and just as invigorating a read.

Read it – the comments on Krugman are always worthwhile too.

Well, there you have it ladies and gents.
