Actions speak louder than words. In the 1960s, federal money made its way into Newark and Detroit because of riots–not because their needs were evident. Schools started to get desegregated not after Brown vs. Topeka Bd of Ed, but after Ike sent troops into Little Rock. MLK disrupted the buses, the “man” had to change his ways. Peace rallies didn’t end Vietnam, CBS showed the naked girl running from the flames–action reality teevee.
When in DC, be a pain in the ass. Chant outside Pelosi’s house and House. Block Reid’s car. Wear Mukasey masks when visiting Schumer. Political theater gets media attention–having a picnic with signs gets footnote coverage at best.
