As Glenn Greenwald warns, Madame Speaker and Congressional Democrats are once again working their complicit asses off to protect Amerika’s smirking Fuhrer and his telecom spies:
The signs are unmistakably clear that what was always inevitable — full compliance by the House Democratic leadership with Bush’s demands on warrantless eavesdropping and telecom amnesty — is now imminent. House leaders spent the week floating their specific proposals floating their specific for how they intend to comply in full, and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Silvestre Reyes went on CNN with Wolf Blitzer, refused to criticize the President or the Senate FISA bill, and repeatedly and meekly expressed his willingness “this week” to give what he called full “blanket immunity” to telecoms.
When this latest obscenity gets shoved in our faces, perhaps Mr. Zuniga will cordially welcome Cindy Sheehan back to post again on Daily Kos, even though she’s not one of our HEROIC DEMOCRATS. Then again, perhaps he won’t. Having an “attention whore” like her criticizing HEROIC DEMOCRATS on his impressively unified blog dedicated to electing HEROIC DEMOCRATS might generate some minor disunity there for the very first time in the long and fabled history of Orange R’ Us.
Call me a lowly advocate who doesn’t understand what leadership is all about, but I think we seriously need to seriously kick Madame Speaker’s seriously complicit ass out of Congress.
Starting right now would be a good idea.
Cindy Sheehan’s determination to seriously kick Madame Speaker’s seriously complicit ass out of Congress is not just about Impeachment, it’s not just about ending this criminal occupation of Iraq, it’s about challenging the entire corrupt, broken, fucked up beyond all recognition political system we have in this country.
Cindy’s critics say she’s lost effectiveness. I would say that Madame Speaker is the one who’s lost effectiveness. Along the way, she’s also lost the lives of 4,000 American soldiers, lost the lives of a million Iraqis, lost $600 billion dollars in Iraq, lost habeas corpus, lost the Democratic Party, lost our Bill of Rights, lost our Constitution, and lost America’s future.
We’re losing everything, but at least we’re getting a consolation prize from Madame Speaker and her friends up there on Complicity Hill:
In contrast to Madame Speaker and the Democratic cowards in the House and Senate, Cindy has not been ineffective, the millions of progressives who just sat on their asses and watched her get arrested again and again in defiance of Bush and his fascist government are the ones who have been ineffective. I’ve been one of them. We’ve all been guilty of it. We’ve all probably rolled our eyes when we’ve heard about Cindy getting arrested again somewhere.
It was easy to roll our eyes, it’s much harder to admit that we deserve most of the blame for Cindy’s “ineffectiveness”. Cindy’s been fighting her heart out for the causes we all believe in. If every one of us had done just a fraction of what she’s done, this nightmare would be over.
It’s been said by progressives too sophisticated to support civil disobedience that Cindy getting arrested makes us all look bad somehow, they’ve said that Cindy meeting with Chavez and criticizing that saintly, misunderstood, compassionate and above reproach Israeli government were mistakes. Well if they were mistakes, they sure as hell didn’t cost half a million Iraqi lives, shatter America’s army, and vaporize our tax dollars like THIS. Progressives who bitch about Cindy’s mistakes need to compare them to the lethal mistakes these hacks in Washington keep making. They’ve turned the whole world against us, they’ve bankrupted our treasury, they’ve lost two wars and are going for the trifecta in Iran.
So maybe it’s time for Cindy mockers to STFU about her mistakes. Not one human life has been lost because of them, not one dollar has been wasted. If they want to talk about mistakes, they should talk about all the deadly mistake makers parading around Washington D.C. fucking everything up for everyone when they’re not busy lying about it.
Cindy’s fought alone, or with just a handful of other heroes, while millions of us have just been sitting at our keyboards complaining about no one doing anything. She’s fought for the progressive causes we all believe in, has paid and is still paying a heavy personal price for it. She’s been viciously smeared, threatened, mocked and ridiculed day after day for telling the truth about this criminal government, complicit media, spineless Democrats, and war profiteering bloodbath in Iraq.
When she told the damn truth about Bush and his right wing cult, progressives praised her as a hero. But when she told the damn truth about too many enabling, excuse-making, spineless Democrats, she got stabbed in the back for it by many of the same progressives, and Mr. Zuniga banned her from Daily Kos.
It’s his aircraft carrier, he’s The Decider there, he’s the Commander Guy, he can land on it as often as he wants to, he can throw people overboard for violating the Ten Commandments of Kos, he can ban Cindy for telling the truth about the Republican/Democratic/Corporate Party, but I’m not going to be silent about it, here or anywhere else.
Over the last eight years, how many of us have reached the point where we said to hell with it, this is useless, we can’t win this fight? I bet most of us have done that more than once, and most of us have rejoined the fight a few days or a few weeks later because we knew we had to.
Cindy went through that process, as most of us have, yet many progressives attacked her for doing the very same thing most of us have done. More importantly, she returned to progressive activism because she understands that this fight for a progressive America is only beginning. We need progressives in Congress who have the courage to confront these Republican and Democratic traitors and tell America the truth about them. This year, next year, and every year until we rid our government of these criminals.
There will be no forgiveness.
There will be PAYBACK.
Cindy is running for Congress. It’s called DEMOCRACY. Progressives like Cindy running for Congress will give the voters a real choice for once instead of having to stare at a ballot filled with the names of hacks who don’t give a damn what we think because they’re too busy answering K-Street phone calls and goose stepping up and down Pennsylvania Avenue so Corporate Media Brown Shirts won’t accuse them of appeasing terrorists.
Can Cindy win? I don’t know, but I do know that America wins whenever a progressive candidate actually fights for what they believe in instead of just talking about it.

I’m sorry Rusty. I have to disagree with this….
I would say that Madame Speaker has been very effective.
Along the way, she’s [knowingly thrown away] the lives of 4,000 American soldiers, [knowingly thrown away] the lives of a million Iraqis, [knowingly thrown away] $600 billion dollars in Iraq, [knowingly thrown away] habeas corpus, [knowingly thrown away] the Democratic Party, [knowingly thrown away] our Bill of Rights, [knowingly thrown away] our Constitution, and [knowingly thrown away] America’s future.
It’s not possible that she’s a stupid as she looks… is it?
preach it…
this has been one idea i believe in: nationally targeting races across the country and picking 2, 3, or 5 races that are key. kicking nancy pelosi’s ass out of congress would be one.
it would be great if we could orchestrate a netroots support campaign for Cindy and a few others (like Dennis) who’d be powerful enough in spirit to fight back at conventional wisdom in the House.
and i say you should spearhead this effort.
It’s time to get rid of Ms. I Never Met a Dictator I’d Be Willing To Impeach. I’m sure that Cindy would make a fine Representative.
As for her banning from dKos, her main problem is that she has the unfortunate circumstance of being the wrong gender for an effective progressive leader/voice in OrangeBoyLand. A male delivering the exact same message? Would most likely have received and continue to get mega-mojo at the DailyObama, imho.
She’s lost so much, but still carries on with her work. Hopefully CA will elect her.
I know I’ve done this a few times 😉
The Democratic party is no longer the destination of choice–or of sense. How many of them have to prove their lack of worth before you realize it’s time to move on–to break with a tradition that included Dixiecrats and Liebermans?
A party is needed that proudly calls itself “Liberal” and that offers hope to the oppressed and the infirm. John Dean was not an agent of change–neither is Obama nor Clinton–they are different shades of compromise. Fukk ’em all.

a H/T to NL for leading me to this one.
Being a progressive means progressing from talk to action. The only way to get rid of the Vampire Elite (H/T to Npk) is to DO something, not just talk about it.
We all have time…to save the World….right on down to ourselves. But we have to put our actions out there….put our time, energy, reputations, our everything out there, or it will be too late.
Really…..too late.
What about tommorrow?
here.
Maybe not a bad time to repost over here?
is coming to the realization something is wrong with the official story of 911. After all that was the singular event which begat all of the evils in the last six years.
They have said “You are with us or against us”.
Yes, I am against you, you puppy chucking assholes.
since it’s the “End of Story,” I’ll just say “hi” and “bye!”
Oh, you mean that’s not what you meant?
O.K. Yes, Rusty, we could all work together and do our best to get Cindy elected — she certainly deserves the honor. Whether or not it would happen, who knows.
It would be good, too, to kind of keep a running track of some of the newly suggested people that are running. I have heard of a few new people that are running through The Pen, and others.
