For those of you who experience actual winter… snow is something to be amused by, enjoyed, tolerated, and exasperated with when the April storms hit.
When it hits in the Memphis and surrounding area there is mass panic, a city shut down, and hours of news devoted to showing ultra special Doppler radar of the offending guest and stern warnings about staying inside when the two inches fall. The thing is since there is very little in the way of snow removal, it can be an adventure.
Most of these pictures are pretty mundane….
Feel free to show me your more impressive snow pictures and thanks for looking. Please don’t rec pony party, hang out chit chat and then go read some of the excellent offerings on our recent and rec’d list.

So I am glad I snapped a few pics. Probably driving one handed down the road while taking pictures wasn’t the brightest move either like I did with this last one.
So I am biased.
in Iowa where I live. About 54″ so far which is way above average. Flooding will be a major problem when it all melts.
And when the snow melts in Iowa, every drop of it ends up flowing to Memphis in the Mississippi River.
The heavy snowfall brings up some interesting questions about global warming. The right wing has been quick to jump on this to say it repudiates global warming. But Iowa winters tend to have colder and drier air than we’ve had this year. The warmer and moister air results in more snow than usual, so the heavy snow this winter actually bolsters the global warming argument.
I’m still laid up with back pain.
but the cardinal picture is fabulous!!! my favorites, btw.
I wish our snow would melt again, but we seem to just keep getting more and more.
