The following Video was left as a reply in my Daily KOS posting, yesterday, on Nadia and ‘Veterans Village’.
How far have we come as to what Wars do to those we send to fight them?
We don’t Execute?, but we Still don’t Understand, some Denie, and we Don’t Give The Care Needed!
Societies ‘Love War’, at first, especially Wars of Choice, but Societies only send a small fraction of to engage, than they make them Fight for what it does to them!
WWI Veterans Recall Executions
During WWl, over 300 British and Commonwealth soldiers were executed for desertion or cowardice – some as young as 14.
Ahead of Armistice Day, Charles Wheeler spoke to some veterans of the Great War about the executions.
10th November 2005
You can do a search on this tragic policy of WWI to find out more.

This week on BILL MOYERS JOURNAL (check local listings)
Bill Moyers interviews veteran talk show host Phil Donahue and Ellen Spiro on the human cost of war and their documentary, BODY OF WAR, depicting the moving story of one veteran dealing with the aftermath of war. With extensive excerpts from the film, the filmmakers talk about Iraq war veteran Tomas Young who was shot and paralyzed less than a week into his tour of duty. Three years in the making, BODY OF WAR tells the poignant tale of the young man’s journey from joining the service after 9/11 to fight in Afghanistan, to living with devastating wounds after being deployed to Iraq instead.

Suicides Seen Among Vets Treated By VA
And pResident cheney says “So?”!!
This report is very telling about what my ‘Nam Brothers are going through since ‘Shock and Awe’, and in Silence as to the Media!!
…by this diary. Just before reading it, I watched the
Bill Moyers Journal on BODY OF WAR / Thomas Young.
All I can say is……
War must stop.
War is an abomination.
Especially since it is, as Smedley Butler said, a racquet waged on behalf of the greedy which destroys the lives of the innocent, the patriotically naive, or those trapped in the poverty of an unjust system of capitalist greed.
Thanks for your thoughts and understanding!
Seems as though in WW1 the soldiers…the people were more real, more astute, more aware than the masses of allegedly “educated” people today.
Today the soldiers have been mystified by Television and it’s reportage of war as well as all the horrificly phony war movies starring Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks and all the rest who participate in this phoney montage that they create of “honor”, “bravery” and valor…..
Today the American soldiers are willing particpants at first…in a war in which they shoot from a distance and kill directly or indirectly 1 million people while losing only 4,000 of their own.
Todays soldier is a monster and a coward. The brave soldiers are the ones that run, the cowards are the ones that participate through a combination of personal weakness and military salesmanship on the advantages of mass murder in the slaughter of Iraqis and many other “foreginers”
