Congratulations to Undercovercalico!

WARNING — The following essay contains information about sports, which apparently does not have much of a following at Docudharma, so I’ll keep it brief.

All hail the winner of the DDMMTTPP (Docudharma March Madness Tournament Time Private Pool):  Undercovercalico!!!

Even with the championship game still to be played Monday night, Undercovercalico has already clinched victory by having correctly picked all of the Final Four teams (Memphis, UCLA, North Carolina, and Kansas) and correctly picking Memphis and Kansas to advance to the championship game.

The Memphis Tigers defeated UCLA 78-63 in the first semifinal game Saturday.  This was the 38th win of the season for Memphis, which sets a new NCAA record for most wins in a single season.  Their only loss of the season was by 4 points to Tennessee.  In the other semifinal game, Kansas beat North Carolina 84-66.  North Carolina coach Roy Williams had previously coached for 15 years at Kansas before leaving to coach North Carolina.  Kansas fans have been cranky ever since, so beating Williams’ team was sweet revenge.  The winners of Saturday’s semifinal games play for the championship on Monday.

Who will win Monday night’s championship game between Memphis and Kansas?  UCC picked Memphis to win it all, and only an idiot would disagree with her record of success thus far.

I predict Kansas will win.

  1. I assume you can withdraw a cash prize from Docudharma’s petty cash, right?

are you kidding? the DD gals were the ones live-blogging the superbowl. i am not into pro sports myself but my naysaying has absolutely NO impact.

and you never noticed?…. when ucc or 73rd make a sports reference in ANY essay, the other will somehow find it and respond. it’s like a DD phenomenon. or something.

boy. are they gonna love you. another sports tracker.

but i’m a good sport, so congrats ucc…

  3. 73 and I watch hockey which there aren’t as many “playoff pools” for because the playoffs are like a second season due to length.

So, the good news is y’all are spared that.

  4. ucc DOMINATED!!

and ill throw in {one last link to our humble group page http://tournament.fantasysport… in case anyone wants to check us out

there’s a part of me that would NEVER pick all 4 #1 seeds to advance…i was doomed from the start this year…

  5. if you look at the breakdown, I slumped a bit in the middle rounds.

I didn’t actually see Kansas play a game this year but, I usually watch the ESPN college highlight wraps ups and it was obvious to me Kansas would be there. I don’t generally pick all number ones either. Truthfully I only watched Memphis games consistently.

I don’t think the final will be a blow out. Might eat my words there. I am hoping they will have extra TVs at work so I can watch.

I don’t know what to do about hockey. Are there any “playoff only” pools that we can do 73? Regardless of how it falls I can’t pick Detroit.

  6. I prefer the winter Olympics which in my mind has some element of “amateur” only because most of the sports are more obscure.

I generally also watch the Tour De France.

    I know nothing about baseball.

  7. If only for Ollie Kolzig who has toiled for so long on a team where he was the D.

I will also have to root for Nashville, and Calgary. I cannot cheer for Les Habs, even thought I think they are good. Leafs fans cannot cheer for Detroit or Montreal, kind of a house rule.
