Liveblog?: End of the Primaries

( – promoted by On The Bus)

Anyone else watching this shit?

You know, every politician always talks about cars with fuel cells and hybrids and shit and making driving more affordable.  Doesn’t this seem to be obviously only one possibility?  What if we can’t do that?  What if we need to live a bit differently?  Markets are already considering this possibility.

Let’s see if we can do a liveblog here.

  1. …”people have been asking me, what does Hillary want?”  Only, she followed it up with mere drivel.

  2. …when people say “it is wrong for people to be stuck in dead-end jobs” are they saying that it should be wrong for dead-end jobs to exist?

I never get that one.  It seems to me obvious that there will always be dead-end jobs.

so I appreciate the liveblog.   Dkos loads a little slow when it gets overloaded with comments.

  3. …is that when this crowd just cheered “Denver”, she basically just got called out.  And there is something ultimately wrong about not contradicting that chant, particularly now.  That chant of “Denver is news, and bad news.  Particularly tonight.

  4. ….all the significant stuff, the crowd shouted over.  But they are on pins and needles for the story about the woman from Souix(sp?) City.  Because that’s the substance.  I guess.

  5. …”if we start acting like Americans again”, makes me think of this great post by Julian Sanchez.

Asking whether someone loves or hates “America” is a little bit like asking: “How do you feel about music?”

  6. …putting the Clinton loss squarely on the war in Iraq.

Never thought I’d say this, but let’s hope more people follow Chris Matthews lead.

  7. I was wondering the same thing – whether to post a primary liveblog here. So I’m glad you started it.

I don’t usually watch these things either so I wasn’t sure where Clinton was going with this speech.  It sounded a lot like she was continuing her campaign.. or at least her campaign for the VP slot.

  8. where the action is right now, I can feel the energy.

I know a few people who planned to go, but the line to get in had already started to form when I was downtown this afternoon at 1:00. I’ll hear tomorrow whether or not they made it in.

We’re proud this is happening in our “home town.”

  9. I just voted in the second California primary this season.  Seems weird that we had to have separate primaries for the president and state level.  I heard turnout was pretty low today.

  10. …but why oh why can’t any politician use the line that we deserve a better present?

  11. and the War – finally… I want to hear a lot more of that.

  12. Oh goody we are going to keep leading the free world.  That means we have to go there first, right?

The fellow can give a speech though.  Good day to hit them on the economy with the closures of the plants in Ohio and Wisc.

  13. …his crowd seems much bigger, but much quieter than the Clinton crowd.

On another note, watching McCains’ speech earlier, it was notable that the focus on McCain was a lot softer on Fox than on CNN.  The result – he looked a lot younger on Fox, less wrinkles.

  14. just had an earthquake, not bad here, haven’t heard anything else yet.  A roller, no damage here.

  15. SF Giants 1

    NY Mets   1

    bottom of the 2nd

  16. Jon Stewart (and why can no one spell his name lately?) just slammed Terry McAuliffe with the Mets winning the world series.

  17. Hillary will endorse Obama and campaign for him in the Fall. But as she made clear tonight. It will be on her own terms. Not anyone else’s. And it is time for the Democratic Party and Barack Obama to deal with that reality.

    The whole thing here.

Yes, Armando.  That’s true.  And that is why so many people consider her a narcissistic asshole.  Because it isn’t about her at all, and was never supposed to be.  It was supposed to be about the American people and the Democratic party doing what they think is best for ourselves, our country, and our future.  Demanding that everything in public life be on your own terms is the sort of crap that the furthest out there of the Libertarian Party do.  It is the attitude that had the Illinois LP two years ago refuse to field candidates because the “process is impure”.  Yeah, well, way to make sure that nothing libertarian has a chance of happening, fellas.

My prediction for Armando: if she does make sure this happens “on her terms” and her terms are not favorable to Obama, she will have a better chance of being defeated for the Senate in 2012 than being elected President.  Younger Democrats in New York City hate her like Republicans did in the 90s.  If you think a Democrat can be elected Senator in New York against the will of the city, you’re crazy.
