Let’s pretend for a moment that you are a country. Well, the seminal head of a country, so to speak.
As the mouthpiece and the conveyor of all information that the people of YOUR country would like YOU to communicate to the rest of the world, your mission (should you choose to accept it) is to make sure you truly speak for your fellow countrymen and countrywomen with one voice that soars the virtues of YOUR country and it’s ideals and passions!
OK, Hold that thought.
From BBC News:
Rising food and oil costs, an uncertain global economy, climate change and Zimbabwe’s political crisis face the G8 leaders who are gathering in Japan.
The summit is being held at a secluded resort on the northern island of Hokkaido guarded by some 20,000 police.
Protesters have been gathering ahead of the three-day forum starting on Monday.
A US official said the gathering was likely to “strongly condemn” Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe over a disputed presidential election run-off vote.
The Group of Eight (G8) consists of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia and the United States.
All right then! Some background, if you please.
On this Planet Earth, there are EIGHT countries that, well up until recently were the richest countries on this planet. These EIGHT countries held more wealth and power than the rest of the entire planet combined. Sure, the population of these EIGHT countries was just a pittance compared to the population of all peoples living on Planet Earth, but HEY! Somebody has to be the haves, and the have not’s just need to get with the program. (OK, that last sentence and a-half are all my ideals and passions. Doesn’t mean I was wrong!)
Back to pretending to be a country.
So, here you are in one of the EIGHT most wealthy and comfortable countries on this planet. You are holding a meeting of the powers that be from the other countries that form this elite group.
One question, please. Then why do you need to be guarded by some 20,000 police?
We have representatives from Eight countries coming into Japan to attend this meeting.
Let’s say each country brings 100 people to this meeting. 800 people. 20,000 police to guard them seems like overkill, huh? AND WHY, if this meeting is being held in ANY one of the countries that belongs to the ELITE EIGHT, why would there be a need to really police this event at all?
Well, Mr. or Mrs. Country. Guess what?
Let us return to the crux of this discussion from above.
Mr. or Mrs. ELITE EIGHT country? YOU are not speaking for your fellow countrymen and countrywomen with a voice that replicates their wishes and feelings.
You are speaking for the wealthy of your country and not giving a damn about anyone else in YOUR country and how they would like you to represent them, nor do you give a damn about how any OTHER country represents themselves.
Thus, the need for police to protect you. The people of your OWN COUNTRIES don’t trust you and further more, KNOW that you do not represent them.
A bit of a Sobering Thought, huh Country?

What has this world come to when just being wealthy and boorish no longer makes the masses lie down and just take the lies in stride?
… quite scary.
In mishima’s Docudharma Times, there’s a story saying how the G8 leaders are going to “kick the can” to the next meeting regarding climate change. We don’t have that kind of time to spare, imo.
Yeah, 20,000 guards. Reminds me of the brutal Blackwater mercenaries guarding the American diplomats in Iraq, who don’t care who they shoot and are never held accountable.
They’re probably drawing straws to see who gets that dubious honor. If family history is any precedent, W will have had too much sake and/or Ichiban and/or Suntory Scotch. Given his dad’s past performance of puking in the Japanese PM’s lap during a wrap-up state dinner, I’m sure he has the other world leaders worried in more ways than one.
Anyone have any toob of that one?
Think about it for a minute. Tis clown has done everything any of us can imagine to humiliate the US. What’s left? I suppose he could get into a globally televised fist-fight with Putin. Now that would be PPV material if ever there was any. Vlad the Impaler has a black belt.
I shouldn’t be thinking these thoughts. I’m trying to lead a spiritual life. Oh well, I’ll just have to get in some more meditation time today.
Shanti.
