Ok, so this is a test – if it doesn’t work, I’ll delete this diary.
Because I don’t know how to write music, when I do write a tune, I have to record it right away or I will forget the melody.
Wrote a tune, called “Carry On” and posted it at Gabcast, an audioblogging site.
If this does indeed work, I suggest that if you listen to it you turn the volume down – there’s no modulation and I was singing over the phone – so there’s some distortion and I don’t want to blow anyone’s ears to kingdom come.
So here goes.
Gabcast! Auld Manhattoe #2
Will this work? Will it matter? It’s just a little tune, la la la.

… I am not a professional singer.
But always loved to sing and always liked making up tunes, tra la.
I think audioblogging should be part of … drum roll … BLOGGING THE FUTURE!
I loved hearing you talk. Adding a voice adds more to the image in my head of you Kitty.
Songs pretty good too. Its still playing.
And that’s a beautiful song that you composed. Not being able to read music reminds me of my professor at the University of Hawaii (a long time ago). I would sometimes visit him in his office when he was composing a melody for someone, such as Al Jarreau. He would hum into his tape recorder and later have someone transcribe the notes. He would also drink beer in his cofee cup.
He’s retired now, but he was a good mentor.
You say you don’t sing professionally? Well you should. I bet others could hear a bit of Billie in there too. Lovely.
Sounds like the third time was the charm. I think you sound great and I like the song too.
Very brave and cool of you to put that out there.
I have been told my singing is ‘not great, in fact not very good, but also not the worst in the world.’ So perhaps we can do a duet one day.
Cheers!
I love you.
