Healthcare on Demand

Part 2 of our ongoing “If you build it” new coalition activism series. (WWL version)

Docudharma Version here

In our effort to make a list of DEMANDS rather than suggestions, that can be brushed aside as “not feasible at this time” today we will address Health Care.

Let me repeat the Mantra:

A person and their doctor walk into a room. They decide what avenue will best keep that person healthy and alive. No bean counters. No multiple referrals. No putting it up for review with a bunch of multiple churches. They GET the care necessary.

The term “single-payer” confuses most Americans anyway. It makes it sound like THEY, a single individual must pay, a term probably chosen as a way to create a Pavlovian rejection, even while it is in people’s best interests.

Gottlieb suggested, “While single payer is the goal, I suggest we start with something achievable and that is “the public option” plan. The Public Option is the vehicle which can grow into single payer.” but I don’t agree. Any compromise we make will be used to stall and to thwart the process in the interests of the Healthcare Profit Industry to continue to make profits as “insurance” companies. (Sorry darlin, but we must commit to this)

If we could turn factories overnight into tank and bomber factories with 1940’s technologies, this too can and SHALL be done.

Our commitment must be in stone.

If you build it….

The real field in Dyersville is actually borne of division, two feuding families each owning half the ballfield property… that is really not what I expected when searching for this image, but why I am I not surprised it fits this introduction anyway?

Heaven may have many mansions, but America has many bars… some of which I’d enter willingly, others I’d tolerate yet never be truly comfortable in, and some that feel like home. Its ok that like minded gravitate toward each other, and I for one, think that new ways of thinking are offered all the time between kindreds. I don’t buy into the preaching to the choir thing much. I think friends should inspire eachother, and that unseen ripples change the universe. The point is being flexible enough to roll with the waves and be able to be altered in a million tiny ways.

Right now many of us have political burn out. Some, quite rightly, are feeling the “I told you so’s” while witnessing so many others express disillusionment with this new administrations lack of progress. Many are feeling like change can never happen, even if a moral man went up against the corporate power. Some are feeling outright betrayed, while others still think we haven’t “given the man a chance.” I venture that almost all are kind of collectively holding our breath wondering how we will personally survive the coming economic collapses.

So what now? Apathy for any reason is never productive.

A Conversation with the “Old Ones”

The problem with being among humans so long is that sooner or later you start to act like one. The old ones knew that. Of course, they never really envisioned what this world was to become. Being able to maintain our different species into isolated communities is a luxury we just no longer have in a world population of this size. Blending by necessity had its own repercussions, our bloodlines are all mixed now, so many don’t even know what they carry in their DNA.

We are not hard to find, we are there in the stories of humans from time immemorial. Sometimes as angels, mostly as demons. You would think that they had enough angels and demons in their own histories not to romanticize our existence into legend. I guess our longevity made our own monsters seem more frightening than theirs. Lets face it, some of us are monsters and we have long enough personal histories to know how to manipulate things. Its easier to see history’s nature if you experience it long enough.

And we have no better success at controlling our rogue elements that they do. The proof is in our Politics, where it always has been. Yes, I use the collective “our” for that’s where the best and the worst of all Earth’s inhabitants always end up inextricably intwined.

You either “get it” or you don’t when it comes to that.

I suppose I’ve gotten ahead of myself. Mayhap if you know more about me, you will understand better.

We’re fools to make war on our brothers in arms……..

Wild Wild Left Radio #20 Obama, Cheney, Torture, CIA, No Change at ALL!

Join Ed Encho, Gottlieb and I tonight at 6pm EDT on Wild Wild Left Radio, via BlogtalkRadio.

We are expecting special caller Nonpartisan, and hopefully Arthur Gilroy as his schedule permits.

We cannot help but discuss the topic that just will not die… Cheney’s apparent death grip on our government, and the spinelessness of those who refuse to oppose him.

Torture? Unresolved.

Truth & Reconciliation. No transparency.

Gitmo Closing. Confusing blockages (NIMBY or no to Bogrom/other CIA prisons)

Reid, Pelosi, capitulation. Is the CIA lying (as always) or is this more Kabuki theater to divert us? (like the Swine Flu?)

“New terrorist plots averted” More KABUKI? Or Cheney/CIA timed nicely for his speech?

Is the CIA evil genuis, or are we just morons? There job is to LIE, and they figured out early on, the path of least resistance was to lie to US! (wrong on, and got away with)

Hateler Youth – Homeland Security’s Jegund

Crossposted from The Wild Wild Left.

The children are our Future.” Never has a sweet sentimental adage been more abused by its utterers by adults with visions of their own dangerous and demented futures, than when Hitler’s Youth was in existence from 1922 to 1945.

Until now.

As the mother of a 10 year old, I often look at my child’s future, and my stomach cramps with ulcerated fear. Global warming, no economy, Constitutional shredding… yes, he will be up against so much, but nothing scares me more than the cultural acceptance of violence as part of life that ingrains every part of his world. Nearly every video game made and marketed, the most successful of these, are always military and murderous in nature. Our children weren’t suckled on sandlot baseball games in the neighborhoods, they were nursed on “Lets blow the bad guys away!”

And they are now taking the next rational step in creating a Paramilitary Nation of Citizens who hate, and are dying to kill “Bad Guys” in real time.

This is what the Boy Scout affiliate, Explorer Scouts now looks like:

21 Grams

Wow.

My son just asked if I thought there was an actual heaven after you die, or if it was just a state of mind. He was earnest and serious. This was not a child-question. He wanted to talk about it.

He asked his Father, he asked Me, what we thought happened when we die.  We both spoke of reincarnation as a possibility, being “part of the all,” everyone’s uncertainty of it, and that it is a part of life, a change, rather than an end. We were certain that his Grandmother was on his mind.

Asked what he thought, he said that “It’s not just being part of the all, but its like a state of mind, like a dream. Dreams you are in charge of.” I have discussed with him before lucid dreaming to let him take charge of nightmares, to great success. But he said dying wasn’t like those, just a dream-state but different.

Whoa.

It got harder.

We have already confessed our agnostism to him previously.

Again my thanks to asqv for filling in my absence last week.

The Thirteenth

Man. The weirdest thing is that so many things I thought would be different are not; and others I miss completely.

There’s, like, no one around. Yet, the grocery store is still there; rather bare-boned and staffed by two people, but I never figured on it being there. I have been here so many years, I had finally acclimated to the people-sounds that jarred me when I first moved from the old Napier house. Lawn mowers, voices, traffic, voices. The silences would be refreshing if I didn’t know why they are here.

There’s only one gas station, but its still open and fairly cheap. No traffic to speak of, no idiots making you crazy. Still, it occasionally feels creepy, that twilight zone feeling, of is this a dream or real? Like, am I dead too and just don’t know it? Its not like my town was ever a metropolis, but still.

I try not to dwell on creeping myself out.

I try not to think at all most days. I would kill him if he weren’t already dead for leaving me alone like this. Or kill myself for not dying with them.

The Lineup:

We will be starting off with a brief mention of the Venezuelan Polo Horse Poisoning into a conversation on The Summit of the Americas.

Next we take a look at the Pirates of the Somalian.

Our main topic follows with trying to predict what will become of the Torture Memos with reasoned debate about whether or not any type, or which type of Accountability will result.

In closing, we ponder about the American Guidestones. To wit, are these the rules of wisdom?

LET THESE BE GUIDESTONES TO AN AGE OF REASON

Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.

Guide reproduction wisely-improving fitness and diversity.

Unite humanity with a living new language.

Rule passion-faith-tradition-and all things with tempered reason.

Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.

Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.

Avoid petty laws and useless officials.

Balance personal rights with social duties.

Prize truth-beauty-love-seeking harmony with the infinite.

Be not a cancer on the earth-leave room for nature-leave room for nature.

What if only the Stupid Survive?

It is Earth Day.

Another strange confluence of random events, generated by random people on this planet has me vibrating with unsettled energy. Even my use of the word “random” is incomplete to my meaning, for my circle is proof positive that kindreds usually connect one way or another.

I spent the better part of the week thinking about Class War, humans degenerating to our basest natures and what it would take to awaken us to how to be in this world as part of the whole of it.

My mind buzzes around trying to work the layers of the personal/ego expectations with the geopolitical/economic and the humanity/morality aspects of everything that is going on. All at once. The intuitive flashes that are the knowing/unknowing swirl through my soul at unpredictable intervals.

I say things like “the center cannot hold” in my admittedly cryptic way. For someone who talks a lot, writes a lot, I apparently am very cryptic. Heh. To those who know me, or perhaps just know more, I always assume they dig the deeper part of this.

The big, bad scary isn’t just the shadow government, human abuses or economic failure.

Its simple, really. Human existence itself is no longer sustainable on a planetary level.

The rest is just mental masturbation trying to either make ourselves as comfortable as possible during these end times, or delude ourselves into thinking we can reverse the irreversible. More, it may be only the attempt to lie to ourselves and think we, as the enlightened will somehow survive this and create a better world.

Mathematically, scientifically, the odds are greatly against that.
