I expected a little lash-back when I wrote of Assange’s ironic protest of a leak about him. I like the debate, I enjoy hearing what other people think when they comment.

But this by Melvin gobsmacked me a bit.

A savior’s a nuisance to live with at home.

Never put your faith in human beings. That is most of what is wrong with out politics.

Boy, do I ever get Baez’ words. There is nothing as tiresome as someone who always knows better than you trying to “save” you or “fix” you. (but I am guilty of that too – more later on that)

The second line, however, left me speechless. There is no world for me without faith in other human beings. Not that my faith doesn’t get seriously tested, or sometimes shattered, but it has to be tempered by the fact all humanity is frail, and even Ghandi had his blind spots. The dude had serious sexual hang-ups.

It got me thinking about the human tendency toward hero/villain framing, my own tendency toward the same, and how faith really drives either view. It got me thinking about sex (I know, I know, I’m always thinking about sex anyway) in this case about how sex is often the deal breaker for these judgments in political figures.

Oh, ferfuckssakes. You just cannot make this shit up.

I mean, really? Leaks are only cool if they aren’t about YOU?

NOT that I don’t think this is a trumped up case. Its utter BULLSHIT, when the women in question posted these tweets the “morning after.”

On Saturday 14 August at 14:00 she wrote the following on her Twitter account.

‘Julian wants to go to a crayfish party, anyone have a couple of available seats tonight or tomorrow? #fb’

Early on the morning of Sunday 15 August (02:00) she writes again at Twitter.

‘Sitting outdoors at 02:00 and hardly freezing with the world’s coolest smartest people, it’s amazing! #fb’

When Anna Ardin files a police complaint against Julian Assange on 20 August these tweets are removed.

Now, THIS information was “leaked” and that’s fine, right? But Assange bitching that leaks about him are not?

If that isn’t irony, I don’t know what is.

Three unrelated tales, that are interwoven by the horrific way the US intervenes in autonomous people’s affairs. Brazil, Venezuela, Palestine…..

Tale One:

Peter Kornbluh has been busy.

You have to be quite forgiving of a man’s secrecy and unavailability when he works for the National Security Archives. Word on the street is that he will be home around Christmas, and should that happen, I will certainly cut an hour out of my Holiday time to speak to him On-Air, or at the very least visit him in Ann Arbor.

What he has been working on is huge.

On December 14, 2010, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights handed down a long-awaited decision in the case of Gomes Lund and others (Guerrilha do Araguaia) vs. Brazil. A landmark decision, this  119-page ruling forces the Brazilian government to publicly accept responsibility for grave human rights violations committed during the military regime, open its archives to the families of victims of repression, and pay millions of dollars in reparations.

The case ~ Lund vs. Brazil ~ revolves around the military’s counterinsurgency campaign against Guerrilha do Araguaia-a resistance movement made up of young militants of the Brazilian Communist Party, between April 1972 and January 1975. Between 3 and 10,000 members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and federal police launched a major offensive against members of the Guerrilha do Araguaia. Members of the group were detained; after being identified, they were killed and buried secretly in the rainforest. Some evidence indicates that many of their bodies were later unearthed and burned or thrown into rivers in the region. Approximately 62 insurgents remain disappeared.

On August 14th, when wealthy businessman Jose Villalobos siezed Tenacatita with armed policemen, this is what he stole. Homes. Palapas. (Open air thatch roofed structures that residents build to sell their wares – grilled fish over open wood fires, etc) HOMES.

He bulldozed 90% of it before the displaced population could attempt legal redress.

Again, this is what it looks like now. Sickening, really. Do not think for a moment that all those quaint family-owned businesses were torn down to restore the beach to a barren state; they were torn down so one man with a dubious deed could build a mega resort / yacht club for wealthy gringos. The legal residents, with deeds signed by the president, the families and descendants of the original settlers of the land, the communal-held ejido of the public beach have been left homeless, and with no way to make a living.

They have offered a “compromise deal” that still disenfranchises the homeless true-owners of the land.

By now, everyone with a pulse has heard about 69 year old Bernie Sanders’ amazing filibuster speech yesterday. (though not actually a filibuster)

I wonder where my Carl Levin was? Where was the support of the other “most-liberal” members of the Senate?  I will tell you where… hiding in fear of being framed by the hold-up men as the ones who blocked the “little people” from getting their Unemployment Extension. That is America for you, the robbers have framed the extortion so that the people will blame their own saviors for freeing them, rather than hang the guilty’s heads on deserved pike. No, they don’t want to steal from the rich and give to the poor. These people would rehang Christ and have Robin Hood drawn and quartered.

So, why would I espouse running Bernie Sanders for President in this Political Climate?

Why would I, when he his a self-proclaimed “Democratic Socialist.” something the average person fears and does not understand?

Our town used to be called Shit Town back during the fruit wars, which were never really about fruit, but the greego mentality. We renamed it Redemption.

Greegos, is what we call the Apple people now, you know, they have that greed/ego gene that made it impossible to fit into a new society built on love.

It started with little things, like the idea that apples and oranges don’t mix. I asked one apple peddler why he only hung out with other apple people in the beginning. “Hey, I have an orange grower living next door to me, I’m no fruitist!” I asked if they ever had a beer together, or if their families ever barbecued a meal on a weekend to share. “No, but I say hi to him all the time on garbage day at the curb,” he answered like that was a badge of honor or something.  I told him he should. He stuttered and laughed a nervous forced “Ha,” and said something about not having anything in common and it would be too weird.

By the end? I learned something. We all learned something. I will never trust an apple again, ever. They just aren’t like you and me. Oh, we kept the fruit, we just exiled the greegos.
