Law enforcement and drug treatment agencies are stepping up alerts for the newest drug to begin sweeping the country.

The drug is typically marketed as incense or potpourri and known by such names as “K2,” “Spice,” “Genie,” “Yucatan Fire,” “Sence,” “Smoke,” “Skunk” and “Zohai.”

It produces a similar high of marijuana but the problem for law enforcement and others is that it is synthetic and completely legal in New Jersey and can be easily obtained in smoke shops and on the Internet.

Detective John Walker, the narcotics officer in Mount Olive, said individuals cannot be charged for possession or use of synthetic marijuana. But they can be charged if they are found driving under the influence of the drug.

People also can be charged with excessive use of synthetic marijuana under the so-called “huffing” statute that also applies to such materials as nitrous oxide and glue.

“Kids think they’re home free with the synthetic marijuana but they’re not,” Walker said.

Walker said too many people are willing to try virtually any kind of chemical if they think they will get a high. He said he is not surprised that individuals will inhale synthetic marijuana without knowing its actual contents or effects.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs, known for his smoothness and precision, seems to have erred egregiously twice in just weeks.

First, he speculated on TV that Democrats might lose the House, an inexcusable blunder because it is his job to omit the truth – not lie, just omit the truth – when the truth hurts. Then, there he was in print this week, deriding “professional liberals” who label President Barack Obama too moderate, saying they need “to be drug tested.”



Gibbs should have expected this would enrage liberals. Maybe that’s just what he planned.

Facing reporters Wednesday, Gibbs neither apologized nor backtracked. Instead, he doubled down. He was angry at the liberal TV pundits who bash the president, Gibbs said, standing by his words. Then he said he wasn’t the only one at the White House that felt this.

If Gibbs is purposely picking fights with the left, it’s not too surprising. In fact it’s consistent with the White House effort to position Obama closer to the center – where he traditionally needs to be for a reelection victory in 2012.

Recently GEMA (Germany’s RIAA/MPAA) put a deal on the table that said YouTube would have to pay to have their artists content on the website.  Due to this not happening, Germany has been blocked by YouTube in order to evade paying what was demanded of them.

Berlin (Germany) – A body representing 60,000 German artists, called GEMA, has stated that fee licensing negotiation talks between it and YouTube have “collapsed for the time being.” As a result, “YouTube has announced that it is blocking videos from recording firms on the German YouTube platform — similar to what happened in Britain two weeks ago.”

The shutdown follows several others recently where the Google-owned YouTube video viewing website has leveraged its significant popularity and viewer base against interests seeking to profit from its video viewing. Whether or not this is a move to protect YouTube’s rightful income, or to limit the amount of money greedy artist group interests are trying to “steal” away from YouTube is anyone’s guess.

The GEMA statement indicated “In the interest of its members, GEMA would like an appropriate share in YouTube’s income and value.” And whereas this may be a legitimate attempt to collect fair royalties, the terms of the request are not disclosed and the matter is up for debate.

Daily Kos founder says he received email from MSNBC president

Markos Moulitsas, founder of the popular liberal blog DailyKos.com, wrote in a blog post Wednesday that he had been banned from appearing on MSNBC.

Lauren Skowronski, a public relations employee for MSNBC and NBC Universal, MSNBC’s parent company, told Raw Story, “MSNBC is not commenting.”

MSNBC is generally considered a liberal-leaning network, so the claim that a large liberal blogger has been banned has raised eyebrows.

This video shows a search warrant served by the Columbia Mo. police department. The cops bust in this guys house in the middle of the night and shoot his two dogs (one a pit bull that was caged in the kitchen and the other a Corgi) with children in the home. it turns out that rather than a big time drug dealer, this guy had a small pipe with some resin in it, a grinder, and what the cops here call “a small amount of marijuana” (meaning less than a few grams). We here in Comlumbia want everyone to know what kind of police department we have here, check out our “finest” in action.
