From Roomba to O’Bama
For anyone except the TV-intoxicated imbeciles who nominated and elected him, Barack Obama’s usual mugging is just about as convincing as a Roomba reading Hamlet.
But put that guy in an Irish pub for 15 minutes and suddenly I believe him!
So if there’s any real hope that Barack Obama will ever actually fight back against the right-wing billionaires and their tools who rule our world, forget about the tender-hearted and idealistic Harvard liberal that you thought you elected. That guy never existed.
But somewhere inside the otherwise plastic soul of Barack Obama there’s a real Irish shit-kicker lurking, and one fine day he might even ask John Boehner and the Kochs and Rupert Murdoch and all the rest of those sons-of-bitches a very Irish question!

A Forgotten Holocaust in India
“In War of Civilisations: India AD 1857, Amaresh Misra, a writer and historian based in Mumbai, argues that there was an “untold holocaust” which caused the deaths of almost 10 million people over 10 years beginning in 1857.”
And of course there are always holocaust-deniers for every holocaust.
“We cannot say for sure if some of these populations did not just leave a conflict zone rather than being killed,” said Shabi Ahmad, head of the 1857 project at the Indian Council of Historical Research. “It could have been migration rather than murder that depopulated areas.”
Migration! Maybe millions of Indians simply wandered away to a faraway limbo where they were eventually joined by millions of Jews from the Nazi holocaust and millions of Iraqis from the ongoing American holocaust in Iraq!

Fukushima Gets Worse
While you were sleeping…
The Leaning Tower of Fukushima went right on tilting, with an enormous mass of enriched uranium inside it!
Dr. Robert Jacobs, a Nuclear Historian at the Hiroshima Peace Institute, offered the diagram above in an interview on Tuesday with Russia Today. According to Jacobs (which he says has been confirmed by the Japanese Government), Unit 4 is starting to lean, a collapse certain to expose the fuel rod pools at the top of the building.
Expose the fuel rods? If Unit 4 collapses, it will fling 1479 intensely radioactive fuel rods all over the landscape!
And in addition to this really spectacular prospect, everything else about Fukushima is… surprise! …much much worse than the Tepco and the Japanese government admitted!
The Japanese media are not amused!
Accurate data shattered the overly optimistic assessment of Tokyo Electric Power Co. concerning the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant and raised doubts about the company’s game plan for ending the crisis.TEPCO officials admitted on May 12 that a “meltdown” had occurred in the No. 1 reactor. Fuel rods had melted, and the molten fuel accumulated and caused small cracks at the bottom of the reactor pressure container, they said.
Reactor 2 and Reactor 3 are probably also cracked! 3000 tons of extremely radioactive cooling water leaked out of Reactor 1 and nobody knows where it went! They can’t even measure how much water remains in any of the reactors!
They don’t even have a plan any more!
An adviser to Prime Minister Naoto Kan indicated Sunday that a plan to flood and cool the No. 1 reactor’s containment vessel at the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant with water will be abandoned as holes have been created by melted nuclear fuel at the bottom of the pressure vessel.
Meltdowns! Collapsing reactors! No plan! Nothing is under control!
And that’s the news from Fukushima.

Arundhati Roy: “I deploy my writing from the heart of the crowd.”
The magazine Guernica recently posted an interview with the great Indian writer and activist Arundhati Roy.
What is it about Roy that so irks the Indian middle-class and elite? Is it the fact that she has no truck with the sober, scholarly, Brahmanical discourse of the respectable middle-of-the-road protectors of the status-quo?A bit melodramatically, I asked, “Are you lonely?”
“If I were lonely, I’d be doing something else. But I’m not. I deploy my writing from the heart of the crowd.”
My first piece of writing was when I was five… I still have those notebooks. Miss Mitten, a terrifying Australian missionary, was my teacher. She would tell me on a daily basis that she could see Satan in my eyes.
I could hardly believe what I was reading. The Supreme Court judgment that said that though it didn’t have proof that Afzal was a member of a terrorist group, and the evidence against him was only circumstantial, it was sentencing him to death to “satisfy the collective conscience of society.”
