What we need isn’t what we got…

After taking a short hiatus, because, I admit I’m fed up, I peered back in to find this:

Having learned from the failures of the others, I immediately announced that dKos was a progressive community, and that conservatives would be on a short leash. There was a lot of crying about “free speech” and whatnot, but I made clear that cons had plenty of places to go online – Free Republic, Lucianne, etc – and liberals didn’t, and that Daily Kos would be a safe haven for progressives. I aggressively cleaned out the conservative troublemakers, and what do you know, liberals liked their little safe haven.

Talk about cutting down a forest and not realizing what a tree was…

Congressional Casino; or, how to fix the odds in your favor

Have you ever wondered why a casino will ban a person who can count cards?  It’s because that tips the odds into the player’s favor.  That is the game of the establishment; keep the odds in YOUR favor.

With that in mind…

Enough of the Idiots, Crooks, and Liars!

I’ve had it.  I’ve had it with idiots.  I’ve had it with crooks.  I’ve had it with liars.  I’ve had it with Obama and the cowardly, spineless Democrats.  I’ve had it with the juvenile Republicans.

The state of The State of South Carolina

Well, I called it.  Governor Sanford of South Carolina was having an affair.  But, that wasn’t the only bombshell dropped in this story as it was also reported that The State newspaper (based in Columbia, SC) knew about the affair since December of 2008, and, didn’t say a word about it!

The state of The State of South Carolina…

Musing in the Dark over Whiskey

South Carolina Governor Sanford goes missing?  Right!!

Joe Amato states that if President Obama doesn’t get “the public option” for health care passed, he’ll lose the left.  Who could have foreseen this happening??

Senator DeMint (SC-R) tosses Governor Sanford under the morality bus.  Like we can’t see this coming!

And, finally, Sen. Ensign gets applause for being a holy warrior for family values while having an affair.  Just another hypocrite being told, “it’s ok… really… we’ve all done it!”

So… onward… through the fog…

I got health care scammed

For-Profit health care in America has become a scam.  How do I know?  Because I got scammed by a health care provider.  You read that correctly.  Provider.

Read on if you care to hear how this scam worked…

Law Enforcement or Lawless Thuggery?

From the AP, we learn about two men who were arrested in a drug sting in New York City.  The problem?  The two men arrested committed no crime and the officers who falsified the report and prompted the arrest were, themselves, arrested.

A case of a few bad apples?  Not anymore…

If not Obama, then who?

Buhdydharma has asked some good questions.  Who is our friend if not President Obama?  If President Obama isn’t going to work for us, who do we turn to?

My response coming up…

More on SC Republican’s Racist Comment

With little information, I posted the breaking news about the former SC Republican official’s racist comment on Facebook.

Here’s more information, as promised…

Breaking: SC Republican calls Michelle Obama’s ancestors “Apes”

Ok.  I WAS going to write on the Penguins hockey win.  Congrats Penguins!

But, we now get breaking news that in South Carolina, a former Republican official made a comment on Facebook calling Michelle Obama’s ancestors “Apes” after a gorilla escaped from the Columbia Zoo.

Two Battles to Fight (Update)

The first battle that needs to be fought is against Democratic politicians who have been bought off by corporations.

Democratic politician’s are now floating a “compromise” on the public health option; a “health co-op.”  It’s a far cry better than requiring, by law, people to have health insurance and claiming that it cures the problem of health care so expensive the people couldn’t afford in the first place.

The second battle that needs to be fought is against the media that continue to refuse to hold Republican politicians, pundits, and supporters accountable for their lies, rhetoric and hatred-filled screeds.  This means that if you live in a Republican state, then look at your local and state newspapers and see if they are holding your politician’s accountable or not.

My local newspaper is The State, based in Columbia, South Carolina.  As we are aware, South Carolina has long been a bastion for the GOP and its Republican politicians.  In looking over the articles run by The State in its politics section, you find the burning question asked “S.C. GOP needs a bigger closet?“, which reports that maybe there are more gay/lesbian politicians in South Carolina than formerly known.

Let’s look at these two battlegrounds…

State Secrets… really?

State Secrets.  Vital to the National Security of America.  No, this isn’t about torture, but, about a trade agreement.

The Office of U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), part of President Barack Obama’s office, has denied a company’s request for information about a secretive anticounterfeiting trade agreement being negotiated, citing national security concerns.

The USTR this week denied a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request from Knowledge Ecology International, an intellectual-property research and advocacy group, even though Obama, in one of his first presidential memos, directed that agencies be more forthcoming with information requested by the public.

The USTR under Obama seems to be taking the same position about the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) as it did under former President George Bush, that the treaty documents are not open to the public. One of Obama’s campaign promises was to make government more open and responsive to the public.

The USTR, in a letter to Knowledge Ecology International’s director James Love, said information in ACTA, an anticounterfeiting and antipiracy pact being negotiated among the U.S. and several other nations, is “properly classified in the interest of national security.”

I highlighted the “and antipiracy” for a reason…
