Is it really over?
As I watched the election results roll in, as I watched as the mega-states went to Obama until you knew it was unevitable, I sat smiling; not that merely Obama won, but, that two little girls would walk into the White House in sheer wonder.
Well, the honeymoon ends quickly in politics.
One of the things we heard out of Obama’s camp was that they didn’t want any retreads in their administration.
That was then, this is now.

Republicans still don’t “get it”
After 8 long years of our country being run into by President Bush, six years of which were with a Republican dominated Congress, our country can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, there are still some GOP spinmeisters, politicians, “Conventional Wisdom” village media voices, and supporters who still don’t “get it”.

Rep. Murtha, Marines and Haditha
As a veteran, I fought to protect our Constitution, not just for one party, but, for all Americans. As a veteran, I also believe that veterans who have put their lives on the line have a special place in voicing their opinions. While we are all Americans, I simply believe that the people who put their lives on the line deserve the right to push that envelope further than anyone else. Also, as a veteran, I know that our service members try to protect their own no matter what.

The State newspaper promotes racism and division
The State newspaper printed a letter to the editor on October 20, 2008, entitled “Financial chaos a result of white guilt”. The letter, written by Mr. Hambrecht of South Carolina, is full of GOP talking points with one goal; to promote division. Not content to merely print the letter, The State newspaper saw fit to give Mr. Hambrecht’s letter its own page.
You can read his letter here.

My debate take…
You know… call me old fashioned. Call me a man. Call me whatever you want.
But, in this independents eyes, neither McCain or Obama won.

My analysis of the Senate Bill
I just finished watching the Senate pass their version of the bailout bill. I just finished listening to Sen. Reid give his “explanation”. I just heard 2 economists give their own “analysis” of this bill. Now, I’m going to give mine.
Let me say, right up front, that the best analogy that applies here is; I am a shadetree mechanic. The economist is the factory trained and certified mechanic. Both of us are placed in front of a car and asked, “how do you start this car?”
So, with that said, onward… through the fog…

On Responsibility
I’ve been sitting back, taking in as much of the facts about this economy meltdown as I could stand. I’ve also sat reading conservatives who, after voting election after election for candidates who gave Big Business whatever they wanted, now lament how it must have been some racial thing that brought our country to collapse. It would probably take a legion of psychologists decades to deduce the reasons for this denial in conservatives.
