Inhofe: Torture never happened at GITMO. Right, and monkey’s might fly out of my butt

And sphincter says what?

Inhofe said: “There has never been a case of torture there. The people there are treated better than in the federal prisons.”

He continued, “I don’t know why President Obama is obsessed with turning terrorists loose in America.”

As the Center for Constitutional Rights has documented, there have been countless cases of detainees being abused and tortured at the prison camp. Detainees have been beaten, deprived of sleep for weeks, sexually harrassed, and shackled to the floor for days at a time. Inhofe’s statement at the town hall is only the latest in his political broadsides. He has in the past suggested that Obama is “un-American,” that the mentality of Middle Easterners is “worse than Nazism,” and that the conditions at Guantanamo Bay are humane.

thinkprogress.org

You might remember Senator James Inhofe (Coal Industry-OK) for such classic hits as “Global Warming is a Hoax” and his visits to foreign tyrants on behalf of the C – Street Family, but this whopper takes the cake.

Despite massive evidence and facts that say “Yes, James Inhofe, there was torture at Gitmo”, the ceaseless attempts to re-write histroy to make it look GOP/Bush-Cheney friendly are not working, and since 9 GOP Senators have tried to persuade AG Eric Holder to play nice with the Bushies the simple fact is that the Bush/Cheney Administration DID torture and DID commit war crimes and crimes against US law, otherwise they would have nothing to fear.

I guess we can just file this one away as another moment in a long line of moments where Republican politicians try to rewrite history while the rest of the world just shrugs it’s shoulders and says, “Yeah, right, and monkey’s might fly out of our butts!”

If FDR was a Republican he undoubtably would have said “We have nothing to fear but OMG WTF IS THAT RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!!!!”

Of course, anything a Senate Republican says should be taken with a brick of salt. The stimulus is having no effect, Health Care reform will kill your grandma, Obama is pro terrorist, etc, etc . . .

So, it should be no surprise when America demands accountability for war crimes and the GOP gives us a gun rack instead.

Yes, they are mental.

“Trying to get the President KILLED” Dan Savage NAILS it all, from “the Birchers to the Birthers”

Crossposted at Daily Kos

This might be the most thorough assesment of the Republican party, the media, The Religious Right, Michele Bachmann, Glenn Beck, you name it, Dan Savage nails it. In an interview with Keith Olbermann, Dan Savage lays the truth down, hashes it up for all to see and then serves it with a bag of chips and a cup of STFU for the GOP.

Dan Savage:     I really do think the Michelle Bachmanns of the world and the Glenn Becks of the world are actively and, consciously or subconsciously, trying to get, I’m just gonna say it, trying to get the President killed.

Yelling Louder WORKS! Senator Bennet’s and Mark Udall’s response to activism at work!

Earlier today wrote a diary about how the Bloomfield, Colorado Democratic party got up and Yelled Louder at their Senators and Representative.

Well, I have now received my SECOND response from the Congressmen in question, first from Congressmen Jared Polis (D-CO7)

, and now from Senator Bennet staff. Looks like Senator Bennet (D-CO) has gone public with his support of a Public Option.

Check it out here.

Michael Bennet supports a public option

This morning we released a video outlining Michael Bennet’s support for a public option.  I’ve embedded it here.  Watch it to hear Michael express his support for a public option in his own words.

During this work period, Michael has been traveling all across Colorado discussing the urgent need to reform our broken health care system.  He’s held town halls and discussions in Aurora, Durango, Edwards, Frisco, Grand Junction, Highlands Ranch, Ouray and Telluride.  Videos of these discussions can be viewed at http://BennetForColorado.com/…

Any health care reform bill should control costs, allow people to keep their own medical plan and their own doctor, increase competition, and increase coverage — all in a fiscally responsible way. Providing patients with a public insurance option — that increases competition and drives down prices — would help to achieve these goals.

Anyone who needed proof that Yelling Louder WORKS need look no further.

So, as our fearless leader Buhdydharma encourages us to do, STAND THE FUCK UP and YELL LOUDER!

YES! CO Dems tell Udall, Bennet: No PO = No Soup For You! (Updated w/ comment by Rep. Polis)

  Crossposted at Daily Kos

Be it resolved: The Executive Committee of the Broomfield Democrats on this date, on behalf of the party members, the county declares it’s support for President Obama’s call for a Robust Public Option health care plan . . . one  that is an intergal part of comprehensive reform that all Americans have access to quality basic health care irrespective of health conditions, socio-economic status or employment status. The present opportunity for true health care reform that meets the above objectives is too fragile and omportant to our nation for it to be lost to the politics of special interests.

It should be clear by this proclamation that all elected officials and candidates for office desiring support of our party, either by financial or by ballot must evidence clear support for this resolution as stated. This applies to our Democratic colleauges Sen. Udall, Sen. Bennet and Representative Polis as well as any other candidates seeking office in the city and county of Broomfield, Colorado.

We’re hammering Colorado Dems into line today.

It’s Time to Bring the Hammer DOWN on Harry Reid!!!!

(wow! back to back Front Pages! I am honored, and getting verklempt! Talk amongst yourselves! : )

Are you frigging fed up with Senator Reid yet? If so, tell him so.

Crossposted at Daily Kos

It is time to Yell Louder, and let Harry Reid know EXACTLY how you feel.

It is time to Lead, Follow or Get Out Of The Way, Harry!

At slinkerwink’s  request and with great pleasure I am asking everyone in this community to contact Sen Majority Leaner Harry “Punt on First Down” Reid and let him know how you feel about a Robust Public Option, and how you feel about his proposed privatized public option idea.

I am also strongly urging you to keep your e-mails and calls to Harry Reid respectful, but to let him know how strongly you feel.

Please, share your e-mails and calls with us in the comments below, and Recommend this diary so others can use the contact info here throughout the day.

More info plus contact info for Sen. Reid can be found below the fold.

LIHOP

Okay, normally I am NOT an advocate of LIHOP or MIHOP, and though I do not stand for the MIHOP or the Building 7 theories, the shit spoken by CIA Bin Laden expert Michael Scheuer gave me a massive truthache, considering the projection on display by Republicans as of late.

So, someone please tell me how all this adds up.

GBCFOX 2: “Rahm wants an attack” ON US! Scheuer does it AGAIN! WTF!?!

Crossposted at Daily Kos

AGAIN! On Fox, and AGAIN, with Micheal Scheuer!

WTF?

Michael Scheuer:     “Oh sure we’re going to be attacked, Brian, and it doesn’t carry, and, you know,  Rahm Emanuel wants an attack. He loves crisis, and crisis, the Democrats, he says, can get all of their programs through. These people simply do not care.

    WTF???

And this isn’t the first time Michael Scheuer has said something as horrible as this, nor is it the first time Fixed Noise has given him the air time to do so.

Maxine Waters, class act, on GOP racism: “Let them define themselves, let them reveal who they are.

Crossposted at Daily Kos

    Last night on Countdown, Keith Olbermann and Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA35) discussed overt Republican racism {specifically her colleauge Rep Lynn Jenkins (Racist-KS2) call for a Republican Great White Hope to thwart the obviosly not white President Obama.}

As Keith Olbermann so eloquently put it regarding Rep. Jenkins half assed, half apology.

KO:     “The old conditional apology. It’s your fault if you’re offended that an active politician in 2009 should use the most demeaning of racist phrases, vintage 1909.”

Following that nail on the head statement, Keith defers to Congresswoman Maxine Waters, whom I deeply respect, and can only imagine what it must feel like to be in her shoes, or any other member of the African American caucus in the Democratic party. I would say the same of African American republicans in congress if there actually were any African American republicans in congress, but I digress.

Sarkozy calls for worldwide bonus limits for financial sectors

Crossposted at Daily Kos

Overlooked in the coverage of the passing of the great Senator Ted Kennedy is this ground shaking news out of France.

France’s leading banks agreed Tuesday to curbs on the way they award bonuses, including penalties for traders who lose money for their companies, as part of a push by President Nicolas Sarkozy for worldwide limits on bonus payouts.

~snip~

He stressed, though, that international rules are needed to keep French banks competitive, and Sarkozy promised to push the G20 meeting next month in the United States to adopt such measures.

“While the first signs of stabilization of the economy are here, we are seeing bad habits coming back. I can’t accept that,” Sarkozy told the bankers.

“No one has forgotten that the financial sector is at the origin of this crisis.”

Meta: What do you hope for?

I write today to honor the loss of those who came before us, and not only the greatest among us but also the names we will never know, those who were dear to only a few, but just as important to what our nation is today, and what it should be in the future.

So I ask you, my fellow Dharma Bums, what is it you hope for?

And by that I not only mean what you seek to accomplish through blogging or in politics, but also what you hope to achieve in your personal lives, what you hope the world becomes through your work here on earth, and what you hope to leave after you are gone.

I have always been a political creature. Myu mother’s brother was a self proclaimed socialist, and under his guidance I began to read voraciously the works of the greats, Orwell, Thoreau, Knut Hamsen, J.R.R. Tolkien, Chaucer, Dumas, more names than I can recall. Reading has never been a hobby for me, it has been part of my life’s work. It has shaped the man I am today, and while reading the work of the many talented writers here I have found much to be joyful for, and much food for thought.

I always wanted to be a writer, or a teacher, or a journalist. That is my hope.

Now I find myself settling at times, and simply hoping to find decent work that can earn a decent wage.

But I do not lose hope. I am a fool, in that regard.

In my writing/blogging, what have you, I hope share ideas, to learn, and to teach. I hope to meet like minded people and people who disagree with my views, in order to learn more, for, if we never hear that which we diod not think ourselves, how are we to learn?

With that in mind I have read many things I disagree with, vehemently at times, passively at others. I have read Ayn Rand, Mein Kampf, Machiavelli and Newt Gingrich.

Often I have read work that I thought I would disagree with at the end, only to find myself em[powered by what I thought I would not agree with, such as the works of Karl Marx, Adam Smith, barry Goldwater and others who I thought I would certainly oppose, only to find that I agreed more than I would have believed I would.

Politically, my issue is Accountability. Accountability for the class war, the super rich and the Corporations they serve.

Accountability for the power elite, the Cheney’s and Rumsfeld’s, the Sanford’s and Ensign’s, the Baucus’s and Ross’s and the others of their ilk.

I champion the powerless and disenfranchised, the fight for equality and civil rights, not because they effect me so personally, often they do not, but because I see how many people they do effect, and the injustice that is borne when it should not be so.

I have been accused of siding with the unpopular decision for the sole sake of doing so. I admit freely to it. It is the unpopular speech that needs the most protection, the minority that must be fully protected if we are to pretend to be a nation of equality under the law, and not equality under who has the most dollars.

   I hope.

I hope to create a better world. I see a nation of so many opportunities, and yet so much injustice. I see a people of such brilliance and grace, and yet we are mired in povery and division, and in hate, when we should be in love, united, and not divided.

I hope to help create such a world, a world of peace and love, a world of equality, both legally and economically, where none go sick or hungry, where all my have a home and a hope and a dream they can work towards achieving.

I am a champion of many issues because there are many issues that need someone to fight for.

This nation and it’s people are worth fighting for, worth dying for.

Many people can be divided into two groups, those that see others as less than they, and those who hope to see equality in all of us.

That is the fight we see today. Hate vs Love. Empathy vs Disdain. Hope vs. Fear.

I have much that I fight for, because there is much worth fighting for.

So, I sk you, my dearest comrades, my fellow Dharma Bums, what do you hope for, what do you fight for, and what do you think is worth dying for.

I am eager to learn as much as I can, and to share whatever you will have of me.

Dear DLC, Go Fu¢$ yourselves. Not another ¢ent until we get a Public Option.

Crossposted at Daily Kos

I’ll keep this relatively simple.

In memory of Senator Kennedy, hear me roar.

Per DKos diarist slinkerwink’s Reclisted diary from yesterday, the DLC is trying to justify losing the Public Option in healthcare reform via there bullshit third way think tank.

And frankly, I think that sucks ass.

Therefore, I have decided to share my thoughts with the DLC and other like-minded organizations, as well as you, my most welcome readers.

Just to clarify:

Once upon a time before I discovered teh blogs I made a few contributions to the DLC..

That is why I wrote this. I haven’t contributed anything in over a year, but I am sending this to them and to everyone I know who does contribute, or who cares about the Public Option

Morning Joe Defends Bush/Torture. The GOP is scared, and for good reason

Crossposted at Daily Kos

Memo: Attach Bush to torture = make them defend both.

Though Morning Joe doesn’t say Bush’s name, I think we should, and Democrats will use this to pursue justice and Destroy the GOP. I consider it a great instance of killing two birds with one stone.

Republicans will say this will damage the President’s popularity in polls, they will justify and lie and say anything to avoid owning this issue, but the fact is that the law was broken, and I believe this is the beginning of a well timed plan to get the ball rolling now, and then use it against the GOP for maximum effect.
