STHuckU: Obama should leave Bush alooone! Just like Bush did to Clinton
HUCKABEE: There’s one thing though that Biden and President Obama have got to get under control. And that is quit blaming George Bush. George Bush inherited an economy when he became president back in 2001 that was already beginning to show real signs of the stress from the breaking of the technology bubble. George Bush didn’t go out whining and complaining every day, he stood up like the president of the United States and he worked on trying to get it fixed.
Really? Are you sure about that Huck?
Remember how bad it was under Clinton? Having a job you had to go to and money to pay bills with sure was a drag. I mean, considering the fact that Clinton left Bush with the longest rate of economic growth and prosperity in our nation’s history, you can see just how unfair it is for Obama to blame Bush for the economic clusterfuck he was handed on 1/20/09. Seriously. It isn’t like Bush would have done that to his predecessor?
Oh. Wait. He did.
“When I took office, our economy was beginning a recession.” – Bush, 8/7/02“The president inherited a Clinton recession and turned it into the early stages of Bush prosperity.” – Secretary of Commerce Don Evans, 9/2/04
“In terms of the economy, look, I inherited a recession, I am ending on a recession.” – Bush, 1/12/09
Damned history. It constantly gets in the way of pretend reality we would love to live in.
Quit spending money so we can use it for tax cuts. That seems to be the root of every “Gov spending is evil” complaint.
Guess why the stimulus wasn’t enough? It is because the crooked corporatists in the GOP just had to have 40% of the stimulus as tax cuts, tax cuts that return only cents for every dollar the Government invests into them, and tax cuts that mainly benefit only the rich. Nevermind that the Obama bailout itself went straight to the rich as well. And what did we get for the $300 Billion or so in tax cuts that the GOP demanded had to be in the stimulus? 3 measly votes.
The only thing better than having your cake and eating too must be making sure no one else gets cake and then telling them when they are mad “Let Them Eat Cake.”
I thought religious people were supposed to be empathetic?
On the face of things, Mike Huckabee looks like a sane, rational person. Some even find that he has a certain charisma. I feel the same way about the carnival barker who sells elixir at the county fair. Sure he talks a good game, but if you buy his shtick watch out. The elixir selling carnival barker, much like Huckabee, is selling you crap, and, much like Huckabee and the rest of the GOP, if you want your money back you will never be able to find him again.
Remind me never to take political or economic advice from someone who doesn’t believe in evolution or a woman’s right to chose.
If it was up to Huck we would just cut taxes, halt Government spending on everything but the Military and Faith based initiatives, and pray for the Bush Depression to go away.
Good luck with that.
And for future reference, the next time someone ( especially if that someone is Mike Huckabee) thinks Mike Huckabee has advice for us on the economy or anything President Obama should do regarding the Bush Administration, would someone please tell him to Shut The Huck Up!

Robust $350 Billion Bush tax cut for rich passed 51-49 in Senate in 2003.
Crossposted at daily kos
Now that Sen. Schumer has called for a Public Option in health care reform or something like it, we have to make sure we get a Robust Public Option, and not just something like it.
While you are calling and writing your congressional representatives, here is something to remind them of.
foxnews.com
Senate Narrowly Passes $350 Billion Tax Cut
Friday, May 16, 2003WASHINGTON – The Senate, in an attempt to revive a laggard economy, narrowly passed President Bush’s $350 billion package of tax cuts Thursday, which includes suspending all taxes on stock dividends for the next three years.
Passed on a 51-49 mostly party-line vote, the Republican bill is less than half the size Bush originally sought — but one that advances previously scheduled reductions in income-tax rates, provides $20 billion in new aid to state and local governments and raises taxes for a few.
Somehow our Congress found the votes for this. Somehow they found the money for it too. Consider this your Democratic Talking Point for the day.

Van Flien and Palin can go blow it out their a$$, we will say what we like
Crossposted at daily kos
Sarah Palin and Thomas Van Flien are lizard people from the planet Trafalmador disguised as human beings, the Palin children were hatched in an incubator, Todd Palin is a mutant whose super power is to remind us of Kevin Federline, and Thomas Van Flein engaged in sexual acts with a donkey and a snowblower.
I will say whatever I damn well please about Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter, Michael Wiener (Savage) or anyone else, because I have the right to do so. If Sarah Palin and Thomas Van Flien don’t like it, they can go blow it out their a$$.
I say a$$, because, much like $250,000 of Ex-Gov Palin’s wardrobe, I know someone is paying her lawyer, and I doubt that it is her.
ABC Shits on Bloggers, and quotes John McCain saying
“She will continue to play an important leadershiprole in the Republican party.”
– Sen. John McCain
This is clearly a victory for John McCain
A hat tip to DKos user Walt starr whose diary Palin’s Attorney Threatening Lawsuits helped make this story public.
In what amounts to an attack on free speech as well as blogger’s rights, Thomas Van Flien wrote a letter on behalf of Ex Alaska Gov and possibly soon to be indicted Sarah Palin (R) which threatens lawsuits specifically against Blogger Shanynn Moore of The Mudflats.net and citizen journalism.
I reserve the right to speculate the potential indictment of Ex-Gov Sarah Palin for illegal involvement with contractors in the building of the Wasilia Sports Complex, as well as the illegal firing of an Alaska State Trooper who had ties to the Palin family, as well as the possible poaching committed by Sarah Palin’s Father In Law for hunting big game without the appropriate hunting tags, and any other potential illegality or conflict of interest engaged in by Sarah Palin during her 30 month tenure as Governor of Alaska.
Further, I reserve my first Amendment right to speculate that Sarah Palin and Thomas Van Flien are lizard people from the planet Trafalmador disgusied as human beings. I have the right to speculate that the Palin children were hatched in an incubator and that Todd Palin is a mutant whose super power is to remind us of Kevin Federline, and I reserve the right to speculate that Thomas Van Flein engaged in sexual acts with a donkey and a snowblower.

Be sure to thank Socialism for the public fireworks today
Crossposted at Daily Kos
If you witness a state, county or town fireworks display this Independence Day, you have enjoyed the fruits of American socialism.
Social welfare, public programs and any service that is not performed to make a profit have often been sold to the uninformed, feeble minded and people who do not read books with big words as Socialism. Why, everywhere you look there is socialism. From the public water fountain that does not require quarters to operate, to the fireworks going off over your head this evening, everywhere this Independence day you can find a small bit of what some people call “Socialism” free for your benefit and enjoyment. .
That’s right.
What an amazing country we live in!
Help celebrate America’s rich social history with me below the fold.

Gee, wouldn’t a coup overthrowing Obama be swell
Crossposted at Daily Kos
Apparently, Rush Limbaugh just could not let Michael Sheuer win the worst person of the week award.
” If we had any good luck, Honduras would send some people here and help us get our government back. ”
Why yes, wouldn’t we be lucky if a coup overthrew the American government, disrupting millions of lives and the important issues facing our nation.
Gee, wouldn’t that be just swell.
That way, Conservatives who are so unappealing they can not get elected can get their Government back. What were we the people thinking? Didn’t we know that this is a center-right nation?
I guess the only thing that can even compete with ” The only thing that can save America is a massive attack by al Qaeda. ” is hoping for a coup.
And what kind of coup would please Herr Limbaugh? A military coup? A bloodless coup? A violent coup? Would it be okay if we deport the President like they did in Honduras? Or maybe we need something a little more drastic?
When did ” I hope he fails ” become ” I hope he is overthrown ? ”
And I wonder who would replace Barack Obama as President?
I’m sure Rush has an idea.
So, according to Rush, we Americans would be “lucky” if a coup overthrew our Democratically elected Government, throwing our nation into havoc and harming our recovery from the clusterfuck left behind by, that’s right, the Conservatives.
Is it fuck patriotism week and nobody told me?
What a way to celebrate our nation’s independance.

Stewart smacks down Sheuer and a call to KO for a “Special Comment”
Crossposted at Daily Kos
” The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States. “
If this was said by a Democrat, Progressive or Liberal, or even an independant or moderate, that person would have been publicly tarred and feathered and then ran out on a rail by Fox News and the rest of the Right Wing leaning corporate media.
But instead, it was said on Fox News airtime, during the Glenn Beck show, and not a the only major media outlet to say peep about it was John Stewart’s Daily Show.
Jon Stewart flat out destroyed Beck and Sheuer for this, and I would hope you do the same, Keith Olbermann.
Link here http://www.thedailyshow.com/vi…
Quote John Stewart
” Is there any way you can YELL LOUD ENOUGH at your TV for the people inside to hear you, because I tried real hard last night. “
You heard it here folks, Jon Stewart just gave his full endorsement for YELLING LOUDER!
Still, this is not enough.
We need to contact authorities, force pundits and politicians to take a stand on this, and boycott Fox News and their Sponsors.
Dear Keith Olbermann, we need a special comment on this, please.

Kathleen Sebelius offers us next to nothing, but at least it’s something, right?
Crossposted at Daily Kos
ACTION: Contact HHS and The White House to let them know that if there is a No Robust Public Option, there is NO REFORM! Contact Information provided below.
Al Hunt: “You’ve said, all right, you are willing to compromise on your notion of a public plan, you are willing to compromise on the employer mandate, you are willing to compromise on taxing benefits. What’s non-negotiable?”
Sec HHS Kathleen Sebelius: ” Uh, the, the bill at the end of the day has to have a comprehensive approach that lowers cost. That’s just non-negotiable. The status quo is unacceptable. . . ”
From thinkprogress.org
AH: “Most congressional watchers say any chance of any really bi-partisan bill is dead. No Republicans in the House seem to be signed up, in the Senate your talking about a hand full of Republicans, maybe four or five. Isn’t really any notion of a bi-partisan health care bill pretty much off the table?”
KS: “Well, I certainly hope not, and I hope, that, um, the Senate Republicans who have been working hard on this issue are genuinely interested in participating in the solution.”
AH: “How many Senate Republican votes do you think you can get?”
KS: “You know, I don’t know. Um, I, I would love to see them all.”
AH: “But how many realistically? Can you get to double digits? You know how to count.”
KS: “I, I know how to count. I think it depends on, you know, what, what we have, but I think there are 5-10 who may well be there for the final vote. I am encouraged by the number of people who say we need to do something. The status quo doesn’t work, and I think people know that. In the early nineties, again, not doing anything won at the end of the day. People thought that was an acceptable place to land. I don’t think anybody thinks not doing anything is acceptable for our current situation.”
While Democrats in Congress and the President’s cabinet carry water for the Republicans, real Americans are dying. They are dying from disease that can be prevented. They are dying from lack of emergency care. They are dying because it is more profitable to let them die than it is to cover their insurance. It is that simple.
And as the Democrats do all the heavy lifting for the Republicans in putting up road blocks to a Robust Public Option, the Republicans return the favor by attacking the Democratic President, the Democratic Congress and the entire Democratic agenda.
Is that how bi-partisanship is supposed to work?

“Unfair to Crazy Conspiracy Theories”
Simulposted at http://www.dailykos.com/story/…
Given this contempt for hard science, I’m almost reluctant to mention the deniers’ dishonesty on matters economic. But in addition to rejecting climate science, the opponents of the climate bill made a point of misrepresenting the results of studies of the bill’s economic impact, which all suggest that the cost will be relatively low.
Still, is it fair to call climate denial a form of treason? Isn’t it politics as usual?
Yes, it is – and that’s why it’s unforgivable.
Do you remember the days when Bush administration officials claimed that terrorism posed an “existential threat” to America, a threat in whose face normal rules no longer applied? That was hyperbole – but the existential threat from climate change is all too real.

Idiot’s guide to the Power of a Majority in the US Senate
Crossposted at http://www.dailykos.com/story/…
Chapter #1
Dear members of the Senate Democratic Caucus, below you will find helpful definitions and other useful tools as you assemble your ability to effective use the tools of a majority party in the US Senate.
Step 1. What is a Majority Party?
No need to fret little Harry. It’s just this simple.
Majority and minority parties
The “Majority party” is the political party which either has a majority of seats or can form a coalition or caucus with a majority of seats; if two or more parties are tied, the Vice President’s affiliation determines which party is the majority party. The next-largest party is known as the minority party.
Until Texas or Alaska secedes, there are 50 States and 100 Senators in The US Senate. That’s two for every state!

Referring to Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., more than once, Wurzelbacher asked, “Why hasn’t he been strung up?”
Murder. Sam Wurzlebacher is calling for murder.

Dear Senators, you F$%@ with the bull, you get the horns
Simulposted on Daily Kos
All of these Senators are Arlen Specter.
Progressives should remember well the lessons we have learned through Arlen Specter in the last few months.
That lesson seems to be.
A. Politicians care about nothing more than staying in power and gaining power.
B. A Politician that fears losing their seat will do anything to prevent it.
C. If they don’t fear you, they will not respect you.
D. Bi-Partisanship = Cow Pie
Specter, the agile old lizard that he is, seems to only have one skill, which is judging the wind in Washington. Many other Senators do not have this skill. There careers will be much shorter than his because of it.
These Senators do not realize, or do not care, that average Americans are fucking dying out there do to lack of health care coverage, whether it is preventative or emergency.
And now they are compromising with “NO!”
Well, good Senator, there is a phrase I would like to reacquaint you with.
“If you fuck with the bull, you get the horns.”
Now, on to the show.
