Pony Party, A Little Good News

Sometimes, I just have to go to The Good News Network and see if anything positive is actually happening in the world.  Just one of their current stories:

Pony Party, Tax Day

Pony Party: Tax Time

Eek! It’s that time of year again. I’m an American living in Soviet Canuckistan, so I have to file in both countries. I just filed my automatic extension form (if it’s automatic, why do I have to file? Hmmm…), because my Canuckistan taxes haven’t yet been filed. But what a complete and total pain to have to file in both countries. At least it’s easier in Canada, especially since I hand everything over to an accountant!

Anyone encountering female horses in the night about their taxes? (Heh) My advice – use your jar as a tax shelter – works for me!

Pony Party, ‘An April Day’

An April Day When the warm sun, that brings Seed-time and harvest, has returned again, ‘T is sweet to visit the still wood, where springs The first flower of the plain. Pony Party… Boston

Boston. I think it’s in Massachusetts. It is famous for a tea party.

It is also where undercovercalico is…you know the one who usually does the Saturday Pony Parties….who brings us Saturday Morning Art! and many other Interesting Ponies at noon and six…?

It is also where many of the DD girls & I believe maybe a couple of the DD guys(?) are today.

Don’t rec this pony cause it’s really lame. Go to the Front Page and find one of the many excellent essays there to recommend. They deserve it, this doesn’t.

And if by chance another Pony Party shows up at 6pm….go there and leave this one hangin in the wind.

Pony Party, Serendipity, and Toad

Toad the Wet Sprocket, “All I Want” (probably their most popular song after “Walk on the Ocean”, which was so overplayed I wont even include it here 😉

Pony Party, Lost Treasures

A new show opens today at the Oriental Institute Museum at the University of Chicago.  It’s called “Catastrophe! The Looting and Destruction of Iraq’s Past”.  Not coincidentally, today is the 5th anniversary of the looting of Baghdad’s Iraq National Museum.

From the Museum’s website:

The looting of the Iraq Museum was widely publicized in the international press. However, it is less well known that ongoing looting of archaeological sites poses an even greater threat to the cultural heritage of Iraq.
