Pony Party: It’s Monday Morning
Light Emitting Pickle here to bring you the most recent open thread. First, a few words about Pickle Pony Parties:
Please do not recommend a Pony Party when you see one. There will be another along in a few hours.

Pony Party
Due to scattered, random questions pondering just what a ‘Pony Party’ is, I’m re-posting an edited portion of a previous Pony Party
Pony Parties should appear in the ‘Recent Essays’ section of your DocuDharma Front Page 3 times a day, 9 a.m., noon, and 6 p.m. Eastern. They serve as open fora, so feel free to ‘pimp’ an essay, say hello, vent, or throw up a plethora of ponies and pooties. Basically, the floor is yours.
They appear in the essay column, and due to their frequency and the additional open fora that will appear on the Front Page (more on that later), are meant to scroll away. So please, don’t recommend the Pony Party essay. I know it’s tough. You’re nice people, and you like to give acknowledgment. Trust me, we won’t take it personally. But you know who might? The person who gets bumped off of the Recommended Essays list by a Pony Party. Put yourself in his/her shoes.

Pony Party, Now Playing
Opening this weekend:
Elizabeth, the Golden Age (link)
Starring Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush, to mixed reviews.
From Entertainment Weekly
“A production of exquisitely complicated wigs and expensively grand wide shots, it pauses often to admire its own beauty, leery of messing with previous success.”

Pony Party, Busiest_Day_Ever_
Today was supposed to be a fun Saturday….
All I had to do was get Thing 1 up, dressed, medicated, fed, and wheeled over to my mother’s house in time to get myself and Thing 2 ready for our friend’s Bat Mitzvah….attend the Bat Mitzvah, swing by Thing 2’s cross-country meet (which we were missing) to pick up the flyers for the benefit run for Thing 1, get Thing 1 packed up to go to dad’s, swing back by the Bat Mitzvah luncheon to pick up Thing 2 to take her home to get ready for the party tonight, swing by the ex’s house to get Thing 1 changed, pick up a card for Thing 2’s friend on the way back, pick up Thing 2’s friend who lives 20 miles in the opposite direction and deliver her and Thing 2 to the Bat Mitzvah party…

Pony Party, Lazy Friday
The worst thing about my lazy Friday today is that I don’t even feel the littlest bit guilty about it. I wish I could say I’m sorry that this morning’s Pony Party is nothing more than a few funnish Friday-related links I’ve collected….but I’m not. Click away….
IllustrationFriday.com introduces a topic per week and accepts submissions on that topic from all kinds of artistic media and in virtually every style imaginable.

For this afternoon, a blast from the past, with Laurie Anderson’s Oh Superman, as far as I know the orginal video. I didn’t even know there was one, before now. And a really great Pixar animation, which many people may have seen (I hadn’t)…
Remember, please don’t rec the pony parties…

Pony Party, Al’s Odds
According to the LiveScience.com story picked up by Yahoo!News, the website BetUS.com is taking bets as to who will win the Nobel Peace Prize. (LiveScience.com is a great website which I wholly recommend; BetUS.com is a subscription site I’ve never participated with.)
Al Gore is currently the favorite at 5:2.
Long shots paying at 100:1 right now include George W. Bush, Rush Limbaugh, and Tony Blair.
